From my understanding he is not eligible to play for the rest of the season. A couple of other Newington boys received suspensions (Fullback and Winger) I believe. Also View prop that was third man may be suspended.

I heard it was only a two week suspension for the number 10 and one other player go two weeks and another only got one week

Yeah WTG.

This ends the discussion of the sanctions against the players.

Remember - there is a Schoolboys Rugby Violence thread where everything can be discussed so long as people are civil.

It just has to be separated from the 'normal' thread - so please don't mix it up even if you think it is important to include in your post about the match.

It may well be, but it is not as important as the health of the thread.

Thank you.

There have been rumours that Menzies has been on the way out
What about Mete?
Earlier it was stated that there may be some changes in Riverview's team.
I believe Menzies has been the scapegoat as there are a couple of players that must consider themselves lucky.
Having watched the game I do not see how Bowditch can retain his spot.
He was hardly ever nearly the play after the set piece and spent a lot of time on the blind side, and when new went the blind they just ran around him. I know he is big but the work rate is very low.
I also think that another year in the 16As would not have hurt McGregor

I believe he has been dropped, not to sure why the reason

If you watch Mackaness (halfback for 5ths in 2012) you will understand as to why Menzies has been dropped. Do not get me wrong, Menzies is a great player but this year hasn't been his best. On the other hand, Mackaness plays every game as his last and gets MVP almost every game. He is only a little fella but makes astonishing metres when carries the ball. He also does not have a pain threshold so he is quite the mongrel in the rucks and and 'in your face' sort of player - something the Joeys lads may not enjoy.

Congratulations also to Alex Barker who, one could consider, a Cinderella Story - Started in 13 E's and played C's in 16's.

The 2nd's match between Joeys and View is my pick of the round. Top of the table clash with boys out to prove their worth against a particularly strong, undefeated Joey's side

This drastic change to the Riverview lineup in both Firsts and Seconds could see increased intensity to both sides; the fresh players showing their worth and the dropped players proving coaches wrong. I will not be surprised to see big games from all 6 players involved, especially Mete and Mackaness.

what happened to Sam Mete?

Sam mete, much to the disbelief of many has been dropped for Sean-unknown-Drenan. Conor Menzies has been given the chop & the Mike kennedy fill in, Rorke, has been replaced Riverview golden boy Alex barker. what a beautiful story; from the dust and dirt of the North territory to the rich & righteous lower north shore. lets hope he stays composed keeps his head screwed on, unlike his usual demeanour after a big night out at the Scotts water-hole that is the Royal Oakes in double bay. should be an absolute rip-snorter of a game, so get down and enjoy the spectacle

Alex-Northern-Territory barker will stay compose, (unlike his sickening demeanor come saturday night :/) josh mackaness shall relish the opportunity to feed a couple of pink wearing posers and sean-unknown-drenan will give it everything hes got.... we hope :s

somebody else who could be considered as a "cinderella story" is that of Fred Eldridge who played 13G's and didn't play in the 16s due to injury. And is now starting in the Shore 1stXV at inside centre

I notice that High play Joeys 3s on the main ground at 1pm. This will be a big stage for the boys from High.

Also saw that Grammar 1sts are playing at Weigall at 12 noon. I'll be in the east Saturday afternoon and was hoping to catch the 3.15 kick off. Might have to try to find a park at Bellevue Hill now.

One would often compare this years Shore 1stXV to any schools 13G's, so perhaps in the scheme of things not such a big jump
