because Moore was offside when he picked up the ball
I know that has been put up a few times here, but if he was offside, why did Peyper watch until after he attempted to place the ball before calling it back?
It looked odd at the time, and again on replay. It looked more like he thought Moore lost it forward.

I watched the game at the pub, don't want to really comment much until I've seen the replay.

Just the one thing I want to pick you up on is your statement that Mowen is 'usually good'. He has only played five tests, and I would wager only two of those have been passable to good performances. But he has somehow got to this place in people's minds where he is a standout test player.

I like Mowen, I don't think he should be dropped. But as it stands he had a great debut, but is yet to show he can consistently perform at test level. I hope he shows us this RC series that he can.
.

Nope. I see through the Mowen haze. He deserved to be picked but he isn't anywhere near a guaranteed starter for mine. Has now had three very average games in a row - s15 final plus two tests.

Doesn't seem to have the physical impact at test level - poor clean outs, average carries and gives away penalties.

At least Fardy was good. Link must be scratching around for who to try next - getting close to a double openside option but not sure if that is the answer.

So Woodcocks crap because your scrum got better when he went off. Logic fail.

You missed the point - his illegal tactics are why our scrum looked crap. When he went off, we looked a lot better.

And the two key scrums he bored in like Bill Young. It has always been his trick and he looks very ordinary when he's not allowed to do it.

Adam Jones called him his toughest ever opponent. That and 100 caps tells me that perhaps he's pretty handy

If the next best loose head in New Zealand is Wyatt Crockett, it's no surprise he's got 100.

I agree that Aus need to make more of the opportunities to score tries. However taking the 3 points on offer isn't such a bad idea. The ABs score in multiples of 7 and 3.

As well as scoring more tries they also scored more penalties. They just need less chances than any other test nation to score their tries. They don't seem to worried about kicking to the corner when 3 points are on offer.

Yeah, but they play with confidence knowing that at anything up to say 10 behind they are still within striking distance. Plus one of the reasons the abs don't get carded is that we take the 3 rather than keep the pressure on. I just get the feeling they are quite happy for us to go for 3 points when we are pressing their line.

To be fair didn't he end up tackling Luatua for one of them? Although it clearly is an issue.

I'm actually not trying to point the finger at JOC (James O'Connor), but yes there's clearly a defensive issue on that wing

I blame Eddie Jones. The rot started with him whereby players were picked on reputation and not form. Since then (some) players believe that selection is a right not something that is earned. B.E. (before Eddie) Saint Rod had the Wallabies playing with hunger and an undying will to win.

just watched a replay of the Moore maybe-try and have to retract my stance.
Moore wasn't offside (not in front of the hindmost foot at the ruck) Peyper's "offside" referred to the O Franks penalty. said "you lost it when you picked it (maybe placed?)" I think. Replays show he didn't lose it when he picked it up. The placing is a bit different, certainly worth a look. To my biased eyes it looked like he might have lost it when he placed it and before it touches the paint. I think a TMO would have to say there is no evidence he grounded it on the line. However, not referring to the TMO was criminal. But I won't complain:p

I am relatively biased and I thought it looked 'try-esque'. You know, one of those try things. Was funny watching the newbie gesture to go to the 3rd ref and then reign himself in and be 'rugby polite'. Definitely had to go upstairs.

I'm not sure he really grounded it either, but I have seen less "grounded" tries given. I was amazed it was not reviewed, unless there was some other reason, but there did not seem to be an obvious one. If it was just the grounding that was an issue, a non-referral in this day and age is unforgivable.
I wouldn't complain either, if I was you!!

Drop Genia, he is out of sorts, I don't know if he is carrying an injury but he is really down on form in some areas, namely his kicking game and taking the high ball.

His organisational ability is usually quite good, but going on the way the wallabies are playing it couldn't do any harm to bring in someone else.

I don't blame him for everything, the forwards aren't providing clean ball and it's slowing service down which is a big issue.
I'm a massive fan of Genia but at the moment he has a longer wind up than Tony Abbott

Based on links week to week contract views. White and cooper starting in Brisbane. Mogg,JOC (James O'Connor) gone cummins in falou fullback.

And the whole starting team to wake the fuck up for Christ sake.
I've never see link react the way he did in the coaches box tonight in he 4years of the reds....

The numerous pick and drives close to the NZ line was strange, with breakdown operators like McCaw and Read around the Wallabies needed to get the ball away from the breakdown as quick as possible not continually truck up for a 2 inch gain.

Folau needs to go to fullback he is too isolated on the wing, Mogg just doesn't look ready for test match footy of this standard yet.

AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) should only be moved from 13 if he is injured, Links bench selection of Cooper and Kurandrani doesn't give a lot of options for change. Honeymoon over, I hope the Wallabies can get it together over the next two weeks and put the Saffers away.

Not only that, he doesn't seem to be bossing his pack around, calling in extra bodies when the pill might be lost etc. A few times over both games he just seemed to look on as the ABs worked a turn over that may have been prevented if Aus committed a couple more bodies to the ruck.

In the end the AB did nothing special but exploiting gaps.
The problem is they found out as many gaps as they wanted, with Ben Smith&Co. cutting regularly Wallabies' defence. And if the ball carrier was tackled after a gap, no probs, support at ruck comes quickly, Aaron Smith delivers the ball to his teammates and the game goes on.
Needless to say, McKenzie's defensive system has let down so far and it's a step back compared to Deans' one. Something must be done, either select other players, especially among the forwards, or pay more attention in defence.
Let's give him time, though.
Another point is Wallabies' inability to involve the backs in their game plan (AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper), Folau and JOC (James O'Connor) barely touched the ball, and I don't think it was always their fault)

p.s. many say JOC (James O'Connor) is responsible for a couple of tries, I don't think so, Wallabies were outnumbered in that side of the field, JOC (James O'Connor) didn't miss any tackle today as far as I remember.
p.p.s. Peyper owes the Wallabies a yellow card at least :D

Absolute shit. Worst refereeing performance I have seen in years. How can a team score a try when the other team infringes every time we are in range. One way stuff from
Piper. Really poor. And still poor sportsmanship from the kiwis with quade. Piss weak. Piss weak.

I think we made a lot of
Mistakes however with a different reff we would have been a lot closer. Just shit
