We take a look at Beale’s rap sheet.
January 2007
Beale is fined $1500 and banned from holding a licence for nine months for drink-driving while unlicensed.
June 2010
Beale is found not guilty of assaulting his female cousin at a party.
Beale was found by Mt Druitt Local Court to have no case to answer after his 17-year-old cousin alleged he had struck her during an argument at a 40th birthday celebration.
“I’m very relieved it’s all over,” Beale said afterwards.
“I’ve always said I’m not guilty. Hopefully, I can concentrate on my footy.’’
July 2010
Beale is fined $5000 by the ARU for urinating outside a nightclub in Brisbane
November 2010
Beale is allegedly involved in altercation with Wallabies teammates Quade Cooper and James O’Connor in Paris.
Reports of the alleged scuffle emerged nine months after the event. All three players attempted to play down its significance, although Beale hinted that tempers had flared between the trio.
“We’re good mates and you are always going to come eye to eye at one stage,” Beale said.
“We have obviously got over it and we had a good win over France later on the weekend.”
June 2012
Beale is accused of assaulting a bouncer at a Brisbane hotel.
It was alleged Beale struck one of the security staff after he and teammate Quade Cooper tried to re-enter the Victory Hotel after being ejected on the morning before the Wallabies’ Test win over Wales at Suncorp Stadium, which he was absent from through injury.
An assault charge was later thrown of court out after it was settled during out-of-court mediation.
March 2013
Beale is fined $40,000 and suspended indefinitely following a punch-up with Melbourne Rebels teammates Cooper Vuna and Gareth Delve.
Beale and Vuna were sent home from South Africa on separate flights following the incident on the Rebels team bus following a heavy loss to the Sharks in Durban.
May 2013
Beale is suspended for a second time in seven weeks by the Melbourne Rebels for breaching an alcohol ban.
Admitting to drinking the weekend after his return to the Melbourne side, Beale was stood down for “breaching behavioural guidelines”.
June 2013
Beale is photographed by a fan with Wallabies teammate James O’Connor at a Melbourne fast food outlet at 3.50am just days out from the second Test against the British and Irish Lions.
Beale and O’Connor attended the midweek clash between the Rebels and the Lions at AAMI Stadium and later joined players from both teams at an after-party in the city.
After conducting a thorough investigation Wallabies management were satisfied neither player was drinking, and were merely in attendance at the party to support their Rebels teammates.
The following week the pair missed the team bus for training after sleeping in and had to catch a taxi.
October 2014
The ARU confirms its integrity unit is investigating an alleged episode of verbal abuse by Beale towards a member of the Wallabies management staff on the team’s flight from Johannesburg to Brazil.
Wallabies coach Ewen McKenzie also confirms that he missed the team’s training session on Tuesday to deal with the controversy.

Cheika can't get the gig. He only has 2 years Super Rugby experience. Apparently not even 3 years in a Super Rugby environment is enough.

Players will begin to question his role, especially as he tries to coach them. You know the job he was hired to do. Then bullying and sexual harassment will begin until he quits.

The ARU needs to make sure the next appointment is qualified. A Doctorate in Sports Coaching plus 20 years as a tier 1 test coach should be a good place to start. Oh, and an accurate LinkedIn profile.

No more unqualified folks, please.
That's the wrong analogy, what you mean is the water boy for the Tahs can't get the Wobs head coaching role.

You know one of the assistants to the guy/girl who had the top job at the Tahs, not actually the guy/girl who had the top job.
See the difference?
Assistant - manager?

Undoubtedly, he knew that question was going to be asked,I'm equally confident that he has taken on board plenty of advice on how to answer that question.
Makes the answer a very big statement IMO.

Just like many of his much-criticised decisions on the field: he didn't make up his mind in a moment of blind panic. He has had strict riding instructions from Link before each match. I hope.
His captaincy must reflect Link's strategies or he would have lost the captaincy long before now.

Hooper's response to KB (Kurtley Beale)'s possible sacking or no sacking is disappointing & really showed up his inexperience. He should have said something like this:

"What I think or feel about KB (Kurtley Beale) being sacked or not is irrelevant right now. The whole team needs to be focused & prepared for a very tough game against the AB's. That is where our priorities lie."

Just focus on the game would be nice.

The best leaders have the "Aim to be admired. Not to be liked." mantra. They stand for principles, objectivity, & commitment to goals. Not a lot of that going on right now.

"Hooper revealed the squad would hold an honesty session as early as Sunday night to express their thoughts on the latest controversy so everyone was on the same page ahead of Saturday night's third Bledisloe Cup clash with the All Blacks in Brisbane."

What a waste of time. If there was a player that felt the whole thing was handled poorly & that KB (Kurtley Beale) had acted like a twat how the hell would they be able to speak out when they know the Capt, Vice Capt, & multiple other players support KB (Kurtley Beale). End result = a whole lotta nothing. You need objectivity in this situation, the playing group is beyond that at the moment. I've seen this happen in other areas of life & nothing comes from it.

Caring less & less about this team right now TBH.

Watched Offsiders today and it is somewhat concerning how this is being viewed by outsiders (ok Leach hates rugby but the others were rationale - including Waleed Aly).

I have watched that about twice in my life. But I watched today. Leach showed his bias badly. But I was pleasantly surprised by Aly. He seemed to have the best idea of what was happening and most rational outlook.

The world is full of managers' assistants calling themselves assistant managers. We let them use the word manager because it doesn't cost anything until the zucchinis hit the fan. We lost a test match, well that's sport. The coach went missing - well that's refusal of duty. Sorry but the coach made his decision then and there as to his priorities.

It was fairly inane. Leach declared Rugby dead internationally, which pretty much invalidated anything he said from there on.

The other three had a very moderate discussion about Beale's confirmed indiscretion and the fact little else was known. Platitudes about Rugby in a tough spot and on with whatever was next.

The only way I think Link is in trouble is if he lied about knowing about the text when it happened or when he denied a relationship with Patston.

If either of those are true he won't make the EOYT. If they're not, he will make it through the 15 RWC.

He should be giving an explanation on why he missed training and why he skipped the formal dinner. He is the Head Coach not a Taxi Driver. If a staff member requires a lift somewhere and in the cause of unity or investigation send another manager. He neglected his prime duty in missing training and on the other occasion signalled a lower standard of accountability for management to players.

One final point that I haven't seen mentioned anywhere is the culpability of those others who received the Text Messages. What did they do about it? Did they report the behaviour? Obviously not. I have worked for a number of employers where such a failure is itself a dismiss-able offence, and colleagues have been sacked and appealed the matter with the sacking upheld.

Finally if as reported Beale and Patston reconciled the matter in June informally between the two of them, but the messages were stored for later evidentiary use it speaks very poorly of the manager's ethics. Take formal action or do not.

None of what I have posted is meant to support Beale's position. When it was just a verbal stoush on the plane I thought he had rolled his dice for the last time and could be justifiable sacked. The Text messages make the situation untenable for him regardless of anything he might present in mitigation as far as I am concerned due directly to his long history of indiscipline. That said the situation has been managed poorly and the sideline stuff such as Hooper's statements, the petitioning of Link in Argentina etc tell me that the whole setup is as Toxic as it ever has been.

It's real simple. You are paid a fuckbucket of money.

Play hard train hard, show respect and act with dignity. All day every day.

If you don't get this you just do not deserve it so piss off.

Too much player power and this is the shit you guys have to live with. It brings out the worst in cocky twenty something year olds with too much money and an attitude. Then you tell them they are a senior player and it's like a cracker up the arse which we all know will go off some time and cause collateral damage to anyone in range.

Big dick swinger sitting in business class with a phone trying to be the funny guy and impress the mates. There should be a level of discipline in a squad that NONE of this shit is even contemplated because team ethos is such that you will be too bloody embarrassed in front of your mates if you pull stupid shit or show disrespect.

What the Wobs need is a coach that brings down a hammer. Enough fucking around with metrosexuals and their bloody cycles. Lay down the law. I get the impression there is too much decision by committee going on, in case you know, someone gets upset or maybe we're too hard on the petals. Call an inquiry and it looks like you're doing something. The age old political copout.

I'm sick of it and it's not even my team.

I'm stopping short of Camp Staaldraad, but I can see the gate from where I'm sitting.

As stated before, what could they do? Beale copied Patston in, so she already knew and dealt with it.

Agree with the rest though.

Seems to me that KB (Kurtley Beale)'s position is going to be that it is unfair to go over old ground again.
It was dealt with in June, and with Link's input,it was decided no penalties or even a formal warning was required.
It's a reasonable point to make, but will be a Pyrrhic victory for KB (Kurtley Beale),any offer the ARU makes to him thus year will be unsatisfactory to him.
If it can be verified,Link is a goner.

I find it hard to believe that link didn't know about the texts at the time, given that he and Patston had a close working relationship.

My guess is that he knew about it and thought it best dealt with internally, proceeding on the basis that he wanted Beale for the RC and thought that it would go away. I suspect he was smart enough to avoid talking to anyone but Patston about it though, and she isn't likely to feature again unless things really escalate.

An honesty session??? Are they still at high school??!! Prepared to be proved wrong, but I've never heard of that in senior rugby.

They don't need a session to be on the same page. They're playing the farken AB's FFS.

Thats the page.
