Paradox has already said what I would say.

attacked? Was it really that bad? One stupid Journo asked him a question if he had a intimate relationship with Patson at a press conference and a few articles were written.

In 2 weeks time no one would remember Patson, and if the EOYT was a success McKenzie would be praised for that in the media again. He should know this is how media works.

I thought the media coverage the last couple of weeks were mainly pointed at Beale not McKenzie.

And by the way, if that is the reason, he should have been clear from the start what Patsons role was to the media to avoid speculation. He did not handle the situation well at all and it resulted in the media snowballing it out of control.

and I think you are intent on missing the point, entirely.

His leaving the Brumbies was about "Me, Me Me"... money, ego kudos - you decide. but it was not about the Brumbies, and it was not about giving a Rat's Arse about Australian Rugby. His Choice - Fine. But there is NO REASON to reward him with the Coaching Job.

My only issue with White as the coach is he wants a big team and he wants the set piece skills already up there. I don't think you could select an Australian team that has the size or mindset to play the way White wants to play.

That said, he did a damn fine job with players like Mogg at FB and Fardy at lock, pretty small guys given their position, so I wouldn't put it past him to change from what he wants to what he thinks will work.

Why the fuss? - because i think appointing white as coach is akin to saying to all the players "OK - WE ARE ONLY HERE FOR THE MONEY, AND WHEN THINGS DON'T SUIT US, FECK THE CONTRACT OFF WE GO - and its ok too, cos that is what the coach does". Yes, that is exacly what we need in a Wallaby Coach, right now.

My point was many players already seem to have this mentality without the influence of Jake White.

Jake Ball worked with the brumbies. Same kickers are still in Aus rugby.

IF Link had gone on the EOYT he would have had a nice break away from the Australian media.

Jake ball won't work for the wallabies. Lack the kicking ability in our teams, and lack the forwards to be consistently dominant. Plain and simple.

The only two "reliable" in game kickers for the Wallabies are To'omua and Cooper... I wish Jayden Hayward would hurry up and be eligible for Australia.

Who gives a fuck if he's emotionally attached to the brumbies OR australian rugby?

He's a competitor that wants to win. If you think he would pile in anything less than 100% to become the 1st coach to win 2 WCs and more amazingly with 2 different countries, you're off your head.

The decision on coach should be announced after the Beale investigation. Let the person know to come up with their squad to be announced the following day. It will give the new coach the freedom to address any issues relating to the matter as history and give the ARU a somewhat positive story to take the Beale crap out of the news.

In announcing that Beale has been fired I would also like to see an ultimatum given to players. Give anyone that feels they or Beale has been treated unfairly the option to walk away with there contract paid out. We will soon find out who actually wants to be here. The short-term revenue hit if players do leave will be offset by getting rid of the guys holding back the team.

Not blaming white at all but have to wonder if there would have been a different result if we had the likes of a Genia come on to take control. We just don't seem to be getting much from some of the other experienced players.

never seen genia do aimless, useless box kicks in his career.:D

all this concentration on whites last kick. Nothing about his long range penalty to get us in with a shot.

Do I like stupid box kicks? hate 'em. It just seems a bit harsh to slate the entire fault down to white in this case.

goddamn, it was a bloody fantastic game. Honestly, who would not have taken this result if it were offered to you before the game? I was only hoping we would not be on the end of a thirty point hiding. That the game (not talking about the score now) was one of sufficient quality to be remembered as a 'goodun' was just icing on the cake. That it happened after the turmoil of the last few weeks made it even more memorable.

That ewen resigned after, well goddamn, you'd be fired as a hollywood scriptwriter if you dared submit a plot like this.

There are almost no winners here. Look at us, the fans. Some are 'resigning' in disgust (after a brilliant game last night), so even we cannot get enjoyment from that game. there are so many who have lost on a personal level, Di, now ewen. Aus rugby did not win.

All I hope is that after so much despair something good comes from it.

I agree with you - and we should be making Zero decisions that contribute to that, further... Like White.

I disagree with Link's decision, but I am amazed at how craftilly the ARU has so far managed to express any real distress at his leaving - and the endorsement from Hooper this morning looked as thin as toilet paper...

  • John Smit was an average hooker when White took over.
  • Mogg was pretty much unheard of until Jake stepped in. Same with Lealifano.
  • Jake likes a good kicker at 15 and a capable kicker at 12 while also naturally having the 10 as a kicker.
  • The Wallabies forwards have consistently performed well this season. There's no reason White can't have them perform at a similar level consistently.

I do not want him anywhere NEAR our Team. Simple.

No4918 I think you mean released from their contract, not paid out.
But I agree.

Nice post. I really liked some of White comments on Mogg as well, at the time he was the form fullback of the super xv, but White came out and said something like "he will be a wallaby one day but he isn't ready just yet" and he was spot on the money. I think this speaks volumes on his Test level experience.

I am quietly confident that White would be able to adapt his coaching style and play to out strengths.

Anyhow - its a pointless discussion - CHEIKA will be announced in the morning - for the EOYT with a contract to be reviewed after - and that will be a formality with 12 months, to Bill.

Is this just speculation or do you have a source. Cheika is a good choice, If he comes and with the style the Tahs played this season it will be easier to adapt then Jake White's style.

However no experience at test level so he's coming in as an unknown.
