Start as you mean to continue. Don't be half arsed at training even if you are just getting into position.

What if the coaching drill for whatever reason only wanted minimal push from 4, 5 and 8 and they were actually wanting to fine tune something in the front row?

I think people are trying to make too many assumptions from a photograph with no context.

I moreso meant that he was first capped in 2003 and then didn't play for Wales again until 2009.

He's been a pretty consistent member of their side in recent years but mostly from the bench in the last couple of years.

Jenkins has fallen away and I think the Welsh scrum is pretty weak right now.

I can assure you, most pundits would tip their front row over ours.

If there is anything Paul James does well these days it's pack a scrum.

I think it was in Heiniken Cup final, James & Hibbard gave Castrogiovanni a right proper spanking

I reckon our starting scrum will be strong despite giving away around 25kg by my estimations across the pack.

true, and we don't have the series of photos(or video) to actually know what was happening at training moments prior to or after a specific photo

OK. I understand you and BH81's point. Mine is even if you dummy setup loosely half a dozen times it can develop poor habits. Since we are coming off an inconsistent base I would be harping on about the small things all the time.

And on this day 15 years ago, two of the greatest men to walk on the planet - to play the greatest game of all - the game played in heaven, lofted the Billy Webb Ellis Cup to be crowned world champions.

I hope the current flock can use this as motivation to be a good Wales team.

Was at Millenium Stadium for the final. Great day for Australian rugby.:)

Seriously I don't understand how Lilo starts ahead of To'omua. Surely we want our best defensive centre against Jamie Roberts, who will be their main source of attack. Didn't Lilo play opposite Roberts in the third Lions game?!

Tomane ahead of Horne and Speight is another head scratcher. d'fuck. He was arguably our worst back against the All Blacks.

Not sure about the above selections because if its about playing your best players, or even the players with the most potential then Toomau and Speight start ahead of Lilo/Tomane every day.

I think it's a reflection of Cheika saying that he was going to give the starting XV from the 3rd Bledisloe first crack.

For someone who is new to the scene with very limited lead time, I think starting from where his predecessor left off isn't a terrible idea.

Easier to start with the status quo and change from there than make changes before you've really had a chance to have a proper look at people at training etc.

He's selected every Queenslander in the squad and is debuting a Rebels and a Force player. Cheika is extending his NSW olive branch far and wide!

To'omua's been impotent in attack for most of the season. Lilo made the most of the opportunity he had against the ABs. To'omua's an asset in defence but by no reasonable measure does he start ahead of Lilo "every day" if you're basing your selections on form.

I'm with you, there's no reason to ever pack like that. Even if you're not going hard it's easier to control your force by holding back in proper form then by letting your form go to shit anyway. I'd hope someone is in their ears about it even if it wasn't the focus of the drill at the time.

i am surprised by the GAGR consensus that Genia was rubbish.
i thought he showed signs of improvement.
he was, to me, obviously trying to play how the coach wants him to play.
i saw few signs of him playing Reds-Ball, or Coach-Ball, or Genia-Ball.
the intent, to my eye, was there and provided a basis for the skills and confidence to follow.

i have no comment about the other bloke.
i gave up on that a long, long time ago.
What...like the last international he played against Wales??? Man of the match!!! Plus the silence the crowd game v nz and the good game he played v the poms....remember the dodgy England aus game we lost.

Tough crowd!!! I'd have cooper in against wales for sure. Then see what happens. If the forwards SHOW UP...there's not many more dangerous then cooper. If they DONT then cooper is dangerous.....but we'd loose anyway. Sooooo. Stick him on!

Drop Tomane for Horne, move Speight on to the bench.
Other than that I'm happy with that team.

There are many people who feel that if To'omua is to be our 12 at the RWC he also needs to play there for the brumbies..I reckon Cheika is one of them..

I tend to think midfield defence will be crucial to winning this game. Gatland is nothing if not predictable. He'll rely heavily on his big centres to get him over the line. With Davis out, North comes in. To'omua's attack from inside centre this season hasn't been great, but he's been rock solid in defence and its a good trade off. The backline is stacked with attacking talent.

I wouldn't say To'omua is in bad form (was one of the better backs on the weekend) and Lilo is coming off a great game but it was only a month ago that everyone was writing about how far Lilo had fallen and that he'd shown nothing since 2012.

As Braveheart says, he's just going with the team that played so well against NZ and I think that is fair enough. Im just a bit surprised with the selection given that I think To'omua would nullify Wales' strength pretty well.

there were many people who though AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) was our best 13, but they were wrong too ;)..

Narr I feel for White, but other then that decent enough team. Speight should play his too good not too.

Speight will be there in time, maybe his lacklustre performance last week was an indication that he hasn't fully recovered and if that's the case then the best thing to do would be to ease him into it
