<snip> ... ... ...

Seems to me like the journos are in overdrive trying to milk this issue for all its worth. I've read a few articles suggesting secret sources claiming this and that; including the possible implications of players from other clubs, and that supposedly some titans players knew about this investigation for months. <snip>... ... ...

When something potentially big is going on, the bandwagoners crawl out of the woodwork for fear of being left behind.

I'm surprised that some of the media haven't blamed Global Warming on KHunt and/or the CCC. We all know that is Campbell Newman's fault, and Tony Abbot is in on the conspiracy.

The thread is slowly grinding or slowing down.

Half a dozen Broncs and Suns and a couple of Retired State of Origins legends should kick it back into "gear". From my unconfirmed source one of those guys will stun me , if indeed true

I just for the players sake, who are potentially innocent that this issue doesn't drag out for 6-12months leaving them in career limbo.. It's not good for the fans either..

This has not as yet been blamed on the Waratahs, nor has it yet been framed as an ARU/NSWRU conspiracy to get Qld.;)

I suspect that the main reasons for the slow down are:

There's only 1 rugby player involved and the rest are leaguies

The player concerned has only been in the game for the blink of an eye, so has not yet had time to build up a hate following.

Same way they always do for their stars - there will be talk about how he "got in with the wrong crowd" and "is a good man" and "will come back a better person"

NRL reporting 101.

I foresee a scenario where a dozen or more players are implicated and then only one or two are actually convicted the rest will get off on either insufficient evidence or technicalities.

I'd agree with you, however the powers that the CMC has are extraordinary and you are breaking the law by using your "right to remain silent"

Really hoping it stays this way.

We don't need any more rugby players involved. We just cant handle the fall out. Already broke so we positives for the rest of the season.
As mentioned above the Broncos could be in a spot of bother especially if one of their favoured is indeed fingered in this.

Are Coaches and Team Officials subject to ASADA regulations?

Has an ASADA tester ever taken an "in competition" sample from a randomly selected Coach, Assistant Coach, Team Manager, Video Analyst or similar?

As awful as this situation is, I always remember something that David Gallop said when he was the titular head of Australia's Mungoes: "Whenever there is a scandal in our game, public interest as shown in the ratings, and other measures, goes up".

No publicity is bad publicity, apparently.

There is undoubtedly an element of truth in this. Obviously too much bad publicity is not a good thing, but a little bit? Let's not get our frilly knickers in a twist, girls.

I've thought for a number of years that the NRL should just own their bad behaviour and notoriety and profit off it.

A tell all interview from Greg Bird and his girlfriend about the time he threw a glass at her and blamed his mate who was out playing golf.

An instructional video from Todd Carney on 'bubbling'.

Nate Myles about how drunk you have to be to mistake a hotel corridor for the bathroom of your hotel room (I swear both the doors looked the same).

A classic tale from Brad Fittler about the time he woke up on the footpath outside Glebe Police Station after a night on the tiles.
