Does anyone have any more information on this? Commentators? Presenters? Schedule?

Hopefully it follows a similar format to the ABC with round highights pre-game, lower grade scores just after kick off, round the ground scores after HT and final scores post-match and interviews.

First game coverage starts this Saturday (similar info was posted on this page yesterday): https://au.news.yahoo.com/a/26702260/rugby-shute-shield-broadcast-on-seven-newtork-in-2015/

Not that we are going to see them much in the Shute Shield, but the Tahs dressed up in their club kit for training the other day. Notice anything?

Very cool to see 5 Grade teams and 3 Colts teams for the Highlanders this year. While I'm not involved with the club this year (due to a new job and family commitments) its still cool to see. All the strong clubs start with full rosters
Well done to Geoff Townsend and all the coaching/management/board/supporters and players for such a strong push in the off season.

What is this competition going to be called?
Yahoo News are talking about the Intrust Shute Shield.
https://au.news.yahoo.com/a/26702260/rugby-shute-shield-broadcast-on-seven-newtork-in-2015/

Did both the unpaid interns individually sign up naming rights sponsors without talking to each other?

The competition is called the INTRUST SUPER SHUTE SHIELD.

Intrust Super have signed up to sponsor this televised competition for three years. There's going to be a new season launch this Saturday.

It was going to continue being called 'Magners' for lack of a primary sponsor - the deal with Intrust Super was finalised this week.

Intrust Super CEO Brendan O'Farrell (BO'F) is a rugby man, associated with Easts and schoolboy rugby (Villa).

Some info: Intrust Super are a premium industry superannuation fund based in Queensland, mainly involved in providing products for the hospitality industry (but not solely). They have $2 billion in assets under management, 120,000 members, 10.000 employers. The company I work for are a part owner of this fund. They're without doubt, the best in the business in terms of product range, benefits and reduced fees. http://www.intrustsuper.com.au/

Here endith the marketing opportunity ...

Good on InTrust for coming to the rescue.

Nothing like the last safe moment.

I see that the post on the NSW RU web site has been amended to remove any reference to Magners.

The competition draw page now has this logo in place.

But they only announced Magners on Monday as the sponsor. Are they still involved??

@Ryan09, I reckon the devil is in the detail of @Lance Free's post.

As of Monday, they may not have had full agreement on the Intrust deal, so they look like the prematurely "sort of" rolled over the Magners deal from 2014 in a bit of a smoke and mirrors arrangement. Perhaps the announcement on Monday was a tactic to expedite a conclusion to the Intrust deal. If it was, it seems to be a little Mickey Mouse. Regardless, it is a bit of egg on the face, that has been quickly wiped off.

Hopefully Magners are still financially involved to some degree because the club game needs more sponsor $, not less.

So now Shute Shield will be on the Telly, and we have a naming rights sponsor. Can't wait for the season proper to get under way.

It's time. Blow your Acme Thunderer, Sir.

Good to have RugbyNews still going, oily rag and all.

Subscribe to the digital edition if you can to keep them going.

Someone from NSWRU/SRU needs to send the memo about Intrust (and some graphics) to the Editorial staff at Rugby News. They still have a name not to be mentioned logo displayed.

You might be right there Hugh. Sounds like Intrust Super weren't approached until quite late in the piece so there might have been a bit of scrambling going on. Suffice to say, they got there in the end.

Any team lists up? Haven't spotted the usual preview of the match of the round. Wonder if this was an ABC initiative although i remember it being released via NSW Rugby
