I agree RG needs to go, but coming across quality coaches in the 6months before a RWC is a hard task, the top coaches are with International teams, the next best coaches are assisting the test teams, and the ones after that are biding their time hoping a position opens up at test level following the RWC..

I dont think their would be many junior coaches willing to stake their reputation on turning around the Reds or even slowing the haemorrhaging at this point in the season. The best the Reds will get is Nic Stiles, but the question has to be asked, does he even want the position?

Not many blokes would knock back the gig

RG will be gone . Meehan has been equally shithouse. Our backs are a laughing stock of the comp.

Reminds me of that olf Meatloaf song
"Two outa 3 ain't bad"

I'd do it. Gel has put his hand up.
Seriously, how hard could it be? The KPI's certainly don't scare me as I obviously wouldn't need to make sure we're winning, attracting crowds, keeping players fit, or being able to tell the media what it is I'm trying to achieve with the team.
I can do that no worries.

Consensus seems to be coming around to us being stuck with RG until the end of the season, unless Scoey & Gel are going to step in and sort things out. With that bung knee you'd be a natural for looking after S&C Scoey.

About the only way the QRU could save anything out of the situation if that's the way it's going is to announce that he will be leaving at the end of the season and a search is currently underway for a suitable replacement. At least that gives us one less thing to abuse the QRU about. Might take away about 50% of the Facebook comments as well!

McCall & Carmichael have given us enough clues that he won't be punted until he gets a few more players back, but the whole team just looks like they don't want to be there, and that's not going to change.

Has anyone mentioned Darren Coleman for the coaching position?
did an excellent job with NSW Country in the NRC and prior to that every team he has coached has shown improvement. He has experience working in professional environments in Japan and was an assistant at the Brumbies IIRR in 2009. The only downsides are that he is not a Queenslander and from what I know of him he doesn't have a GPS tie.

Only familiar with his career from Wikipedia but apparently it was the academy team at the brumbies.

Realistically whoever is selected, even at caretaker level needs to have been at least an experienced assistant coach at a fully pro top level outfit in Europe or Super rugby. Remote possibility of someone outside of that that the QRU knows really well.

Darren unfortunately, doesn't tick too many of those boxes

Choice has to be a very experienced and successful coach OR an inexperienced one that has the potential to take the team where it needs to go (Like a Matt Taylor)

Stiles would be an excellant choice as Caretaker - well respected by the playing group whereas Meehan is reportedly, not.

Stiles then has his hat in the ring and if he can turn around the performances for the balance of the season, then he should be in the mix for the top job,

RG will find it difficult to get another senior coaching role I would suspect

If we go undefeated from here on in and win the championship, they may retain RG on a new contract. Anything less and I reckon they will tell him he's not required at the end of this one.

I think as Reds fan we need to start dealing with the reality that;

1. RG is here to stay for 2015
2. A new coach probably won't be announced until later in the year, as many have mentioned post-RWC is when a few guys will come off contract
3. It is doubtful that the return of Quade, Simmons and Holmes will turn the Reds into a Premiership winning team this year

That sounds very morose, however, its up to us as Reds fans to keep faith that there are greener pastures a head once all the shit is cleared up during the off-season.

Thank christ for that. Finally someone talking sense.

My coaching philosophy is one of Grahamism.

Grahamism is not an ancient coaching philosophy. While some have placed its origins in Bath in 2002, historical analysis shows it had a limited influence on team behaviour and outcomes until it hit Perth in 2010.

Grahamism is the practical application of an allegory: even a stopped clock is right twice a day. In the Grahamism school of thought, by doing nothing different we will get it right at least twice in 24 hours. Many teams would kill for that level of consistency.

True Grahamism forecasts a win rate of 2 in every 24 games, or 1 in every 12. For the Foxsports-addicted stats boffins this equates to a win percentage of 8.3%. Until now, the potential of Grahamism has gone unrealised - teams abandoned its promise before it could ever be fulfilled. But under the Queensland Reds banner, we can finally see Grahamism as it was intended.

I've never been more excited.

No doubt the Bus Driver is trying to chuck all and sundry under the bus - assistants, S&C's, players, medicos, admin staff, groundsman and even the poor bugger just walking his dog past Ballymore.

Pretty shit bus with no-one on it,

No, they are way up the road riding in the limo and completely oblivious to whats going on in the bus.

That's until a media personality asks them about the bus driver and bus to which they reply "Really? Looks ok from here, we'll get a team to look over it when it's back in the depot."

Matt Taylor is the man we want. I am just going to keep saying it, until it happens.

While I'm happy to throw my hat in the ring I think the Reds could do worse than getting Michael O'Connor to help out for the rest of the year.
  • He has experience coaching at the top level, all be it in 7's.
  • Is used to working with young guys and developing their skills.
  • Could keep Stiles on to look after the forwards
  • He could get out backs to do something in attack
  • He lives in QLD
  • Would need to find a defence coach
While wasn't my first choice I think he is a lot better than getting someone who has never run a team or coached professionally.

All we need is an Attack Coach, a Defence Coach and a Head Coach.

Happy with Stiles - I think he has done a good job on the set piece - even though we are missing Greg Holmes and Simmons big time.

Don't agree with a 7's coach. Totally different sport nowdays and nearly like touch footy. It would be a huge transition to Super 15 level, There are better options (I think)
