Tyson Davis replaces him as he did early in the Italy game. Ironically his good mate from Barker and the Rats, Harry Jones, reportedly (in this thread) came back from injury in second grade last week.

Harry Jones played for the Rats 1st Grade side 2 Saturday's ago. Guess it was too late to add him to the squad. ?

Ok, so, I didn't actually see Jones playing myself, but a mate told me they saw him playing in 1st grade for part of the televised match that weekend. They could have been mistaken.

Maybe, but have to say I didn't see it. Just looked like Sandell was being overpowered. Although, I have to say, even in the early scrums the Aus one held together better when Wilkin packed behind Sandell rather than Gunn. Could that have been some of the difference?

If you think the difference between Wilkin and Gunn packing under Sandells bum is what changed, please watch the scrums again.

Good to see Jac Vermeulen starting, he should be itching to go. Obvious to see the amount of WeePee youngsters in the team, they have been taken over the Bulls player manufacturing since Pollard fall through the cracks.

This will be a tough match for SA, look out for EW & Daniel (Michael son) in midfield. You have his nephew Willie at the Rebelle and Carels boy JL played WP Vodacom cup.

Know Liebenberg is the younger boet of the previous capt and Daniel du Plessis the only I know of.

Know Jac Vermeulen well, the only relation to Duanne is the way they play rugby.

The squad, which was chosen by the national selectors, consists of 16 forwards and 12 backs, and includes six players who featured in last year’s tournament in New Zealand. Last year England edged the young South Africans by a single point in a memorable final at Eden Park in Auckland.
Jean-Luc du Preez (flank), Thomas du Toit (prop, both Cell C Sharks), Joseph Dweba (hooker, Toyota Free State Cheetahs), Abongile Nonkontwana (lock, Vodacom Blue Bulls), Jacques Vermeulen (No 8, DHL Western Province) and Warrick Gelant (fullback, Vodacom Blue Bulls, pictured) are the players who will represent the Junior Boks for a second successive year.
The Junior Springbok squad shows four changes from the touring group that returned from Argentina on Monday evening.
Lock RG Snyman (Vodacom Blue Bulls) got the nod to travel to Italy after he sat out the Los Pumitas series because of an ankle injury. WP centre EW Viljoen and Blue Bulls flyhalf Tinus de Beer, who also did not tour Argentina, were both selected for the Italian job.
The Du Preez twins, Dan and Jean-Luc, who were selected for the 2014 tournament, are also members of the 28-man squad. Dan, however, withdrew days before the team left for New Zealand last year because of a shoulder injury.
The Junior Boks will assemble on Sunday for their final training camp in Stellenbosch. They will have field sessions next Monday and Tuesday at the Paul Roos Markotter Stadium, with the capping ceremony scheduled to take place on Tuesday evening. The squad will fly out to Italy next Wednesday afternoon.

I see both Tuttle and Nucifora named in the 23. Is Fines actually actually enroute to Italy?

Sounds like they may be in the market for a Centre/Wing for Quick (if he is injured) and maybe another loose forward if Fakaosilea is crook.

Fainga'a starting is not a "change". He started as #2 against Italy.

Different coaches seem to have different views on who is better. At the Sharks, Dan got the Super Rugby call up before his brother, so it seems the coaches rate him more there.

However, with the SA U20s in Italy, Jean-Luc has played every single game at 7, while Dan has been on the bench for two. They both started together against Samoa though. The consensus is that if you want more brute power, go with JL; if you want more mobility, go with Dan.

They're both really good though, will be interesting to see how they fare against Gunn and Wilkin.

Still confused. Why fly out a "replacement" halfback for finals if both halfbacks are fit enough to be named in the match day 23 against the Saffers?

Am I reading the tea leaves wrong on here, but it looks like we have a crocked loose forward, outside back and prop? A new halfback isn't going to solve any of those issues.

It sounds like there should be others on that plane as well, like Jack Redden, Dunbar or McCalman, and another Pot Plant.

Young Van Zyl seems to be one out of the box too. Same school as Pierre Spies I think

What other 8/6 Loose forward do we have ready to go to replace Fakaosilea if, as reported, he is on the plane home in a boot?
