Probably a ridiculous suggestion but as a short term solution why not have Penrith join the John I Dent? The ARU could chip in for the Bus hire. Bring them back after a time of rebuilding and investing. Vikings played in SS at some point didn't they? Perhaps Canberra could help out. This is assuming that JID is higher level than Subbies. The players would still get good exposure to a super rugby team.

See former randwick and Norths player Al McFarland picked in the USA squad for RWC2015!! He was a decent 1st grader, but not dominant. Played lots of 1s and 2s up and down. Good for him.

Round 15 Tips
The wild card may be the return to Clubland of the Super Rugby players. Some will, and some will not due to R&R requirements. Not many have been included in the official team lists compiled on Wednesday, but we all know how accurate they are, and Coaches would never play mind games, would they?

Eastern Suburbs v Randwick. The Eastern Beaches Festival of Hate. There will be cards but Randi-Wix will be too good. Beasties form has been very average, even at home. Bar takings will be high, and while the BBQ will be gourmet, there is something not quite right with professional chefs working the hotplate at the Rugby. The Gallopers by 15-20.

West Harbour v Eastwood. After last weeks opposed training session, the Woodies will be fresh and keen for some contact. Woodies with some returning pros will be far too good for the feisty Pirates and will take the chocolates by 15-20.

Manly v Northern Suburbs. MMM by 10-15.

Gordon v Parramatta. The M2B are due for a win and this could be it. M2B by < 7.

Sydney University v Southern Districts. Not supposed to talk about the visiting club, but they should win by 10-15.

Penrith v Warringah. Rats should send their second grade and not risk the possibility of injury. Could be three figures.

No it doesn't. It shows what was achieved, on the back of some individual efforts. Those individuals moved on, and the baton was not picked up by the local rugby community.

The ARU "windfall" was minuscule compared to the AFL's $220 mill. And their $220 mill is a minuscule portion of their overall surpluses. They have the resources to buy success. Or try to, the two expansion franchises are not exactly setting the world on fire.

But more than enough for a few crumbs could have gone to help spread the game. It's amateur era thinking to believe that you can just let clubs in non-traditional rugby areas fend for themselves.

JON and co were too busy frying other fish and pissing millions up against the wall.

It is getting tighter at the top as the usual suspects jockey with their positions and consolidate their lead at the top of the table. There is now 81 (LW 25) points separating the top 3 clubs. There is also one hell of a scrap for places 7-10 with 84 (LW 125) points separating the 4 clubs.

There are a maximum of 215 points available to a club each week, based on all 7 club teams winning with a 4 try BP and the target to win is >3000 points which was achieved by 3 clubs last year. In 2014 the difference between 1st and 2nd was only 33 points, with 3rd only 52 points further back.

How the Club Championship table is calculated.
The competition points from the individual competitions are multiplied by the following factors and then added together.
First Grade - 15
Second Grade - 8
Third Grade - 5
Fourth Grade - 4
Colts 1 - 6
Colts 2 - 3
Colts 3 - 2

The 33 point difference between Gold and Silver last year could have been made up from an extra 2 BP in Shute Shield and an extra BP in Colts 2, or an extra victory without a BP in 2nd Grade and an extra BP in Colts 3.

Great day at Woollahra with all grades keenly contested and the results in doubt until the death -- a true local derby day.

But the seating (or actually the lack thereof) at Woollahra is a disgrace. The small temporary stands at each end of the western sideline have been replaced by even more temporary seating which I'm assuming the club picked up cheap from some primary school.

Can all clubs maybe take up a collection to help the poor working class people at Woollahra to acquire some seating for the supporters?

Even Nepean Rugby Park has a grandstand.

I can only hope the SRU don't award a playoff game to Woollahra Oval this year -- that would be a total embarrassment.

According to the Woollahra Council website, there is a grandstand there.:confused: I asssume by that they mean the useless monstrosity which houses the dressing sheds. Maybe they could divert some of the ratepayer money that they are spending to fight amalgamation on facilities.;)

Unfortunately the "grandstand" has had the seating removed and the ground can only be seen from a small area in the north eastern corner anyway. The view of the ground from the rest of the stand is obscured by trees and stuff.

Plenty of room on the eastern side for a stand or some sort of tiered seating, but of course then you'd have to look into the sun. And there's no shelter from rain other than inside the clubhouse.

Worst ground in the SS for spectators IMO.

Whilst on the subject, why on earth don't they move that bloody camera tower thingy to the other side of the ground at Granville Park so it doesn't obscure the view of the game? :mad:
I noticed last week that there appears to be power over the other side so why not move the bloody thing?
