All this talk about Sheldon.... and then I watch a 45 second video where he touches the ball once and makes 5 strides for a 6 metre gain , big deal ! If the two players not pushing up forward on the inside the play goes no where.

They way some of the people on here been giving Sheldon the accolades I thought he must have made a 50 metre gain or ran the entire field and stepped half the opposing team, but if that is it, if that is all the highlights you are referring well pfft..... Put the highlights up here for what Williams and Wilkinson did in the second half and lets compare ???

That is no disrespect to Sheldon just an observation.

Sheldon is like many good players this year, I follow Joeys so I will mention their names Blaise Barnes (ACL), Sam Abbey (ACL) and Triston Reilly (Fractured cheekbone), has been subjected to injury which will stall their progression, however the kids can not dwell on that and I am sure they will not, unlike some adults on this forum. I hope the kids undertake their rehab, train hard and get back into it.

^^^^^^Sheldon gets accolades cos he is a standout player in a lower profile team.
Joeys and other centres of excellence produce excellent players en masse so it is harder for a star to shine. Joeys no 13 stands out in an excellent backline.

No no, he had to choose between following league or union. He had to decide now and decided to go with league because he didn't plan to get an atar and thought he'd better off develop if he went to league now and solely focus on sport

That's exactly right. He had a choice between both codes, with league very keen to get him into a full time development environment. Not chasing an atar and doing tafe, made it a pretty obvious choice for him. The selectors have the right to make a choice ( a wrong choice in my opinion) , and respectfully the boy also has the same right to make his choice, some will think wrong and others right. That's the beauty of living in democracy, you get to choose what's right for you, not what's right for others. I say good on him for having the courage to do what he wants to do for himself, even knowing there would be many in the other camp.

I don't want this misconstrued as being flirtatious (sorry Azzuri, it's over) but how good are Sidesteppa's videos with upbeat music? Nothing like being a bit bored at work and playing the short highlights reel to get you pumped for footy. Keep them coming is all I can say.

I don't know why but I am forever amazed how this forums heats up at this time of the year.

No doubt the mods will be busy filtering the parents and players who have thrown the "toys out of the cot"

Just remember that what is posted is your legacy and on reflection some may wish they hadn't "posted" that.

All our sons hopefully will have a long future in the sport and some of the banter hasn't been edifying.

For those not selected. Heads up refocus and learn from the experience to be the best you can be. For those in rehab, work hard and get well.

Like preparing for the HSC, the adversity and trauma will disappear in time.

Both games yesterday were entertaining and i don't think the scoreline in both the 1sts and 2nds reflects the games that were played.

In the 2nds I thought the GPS team were a little flattered by the final scoreline. GPS didn't turn up to play for the first 15 mins and CAS took their opportunities and deserved the win. It was really only late in the second half when GPS woke up and started to play, almost snatching an unlikely draw.

The CAS forwards were strong and probably got the points over GPS, while some of the GPS backs were definitely not at their best on the day (Orpen the exception). The CAS backs looked slick and took their chances - the quick 16yo winger certainly has some toe.

In the 1sts CAS were right in the game for about 50 mins but some mistakes and the class of Wilkinson and Jaffer-Williams took over late in the game and made the scoreline look a lot more lopsided than the game reflected.

As a selection trial - I thought the GPS front row got the points over their counterparts, but the locks battle went to CAS's Frost and Rasch. The back row battle was closer with a couple of players cancelling each other out, possibly CAS but "marginal" (pardon the pun).

The halfbacks were both good, while Wilkinson/Sheldon seemed to have the edge on their opponent. Orpen (GPS) when he came on and Armstrong (CAS) were the pick of the centres, with Mohi (CAS) and Jaffer-Williams (GPS) the pick of the wings. And was split between the two 15's performances.

Good luck to all the lads in their next games. I hope those that took injuries recover quickly.

Shame to see him go, but I trust he made the right choice. Makes me think of Cameron Murray, who last year somehow managed to miraculously balance league, union and his studies on top of that (and still perform impressively in all three!). Huge loss for New.

Unfortunately every report on this forum is written with some bias in the viewpoint. Usually a dad or mum trying to push their son. Hard to believe there could have been any bad players in a GPS side that beat a quality CAS side by such a margin

Very balanced, especially in the heading.

"GPS win well against CAS."

It was a victory to each side 1 to CAS and 1 to GPS.

And if not for Jaffer-Williams quick hat trick that showed his class and reps for schoolboys, it was a very even game.

Great to see Max Sinclair given an opportunity in the 2nds. Well deserved.

Excluding the 4,5,8, the K forwards are short. No disrespect because they are awesome footballers and they work well as a pack. I stood next to them last sat.

Size isn't everything (for eg the S hooker is awesome) but when the selectors consider who is going to play after school at rep level, height is something I'm sure they consider. They can fill out but rarely get taller and even the shortest props are close to 6' these days.

Having said all that I hope the K forwards punch above their height and smash V and S. Sounds like Shore piggies dug in last week in some parts.
