Their problem is there is no one putting pressure on 1's players to perform.
Their only first grade standard 2rowers have been injured long term,as has the 9.without him, they don't have 1st grade standard at 9,10,12 in the entire club.
At the start of last year, they had strong 1st grade props in 3's.
This year they were embarrassed by the Rats scrum (who had one of those 3rd graders at prop against them!)
The new coach will be sure to have a big war chest for when he starts his massive recruiting drive for next year.
It's probably also a good time to be a leaving schoolboy star, they will have to throw plenty of $$ amongst them as well.

Quite happy to take Sam Lane off your hands if you want. Holton would also fit in well at Gordon ;).

Can imagine it is going to be a bit of a war between Manly and Warringah in this off - season coming up.

Yes definitely a different vibe surrounding Manly. Thinking their premiership window is closed for now, and don't see them making the playoffs this year.

Sad to see Easts go (I think), a real darkhorse of the competition who really improved the quality of the comp. Saw them play 3 games throughout the year where they looked a top 4 side. Maybe they lacked belief and or fitness to win clutch games (Or a Josh Holmes)? But some high caliber youngsters as good as any in the shute shield which bodes well for future years. Rowan Perry and Archi King were standouts in the few games I watched and from what I heard. Perry looks a very complete number 7 capable of higher honors. Also two of the hardest running second rowers in the SS in Lee Warner and BJ Edwards I remember from the epic away clash at woollahra.
Agreed.
Disappointing too that the coach is being moved on, with no apparent replacement in the wings, despite getting a fair bit out of average cattle.

Darren Coleman going? Heard that he was off to Gordon but thought it was BS

I made a comment after round 11 that the Marlins had problems both with the coachs and the board and I was called a insider or a friend of a ex marlin .Let me say again that MMMs have Major issues within.
It appears that they are still picking players out of form.
Looking forward to seeing them get beaten again this coming Sat at NSO.
Maybe a year for the red an black

It was me who called you out . I also subsequently acknowledged your self attributed hard working volunteer status as a man after the Galahs own heart so your post is disappointing . Schadenfreude particularly after one good season in how many (?) is such an unendearing trait

The point is I suppose within the bounds of libel "put up or shut up" .... and it is disingenuous to pretend there aren't a few disaffected Marlins at Norths but that is MMM's loss - we can agree on that.

Norths recent success is to be applauded as is Easts and the resurgence of Rats . They have all learned well from Manly who along with Souths have taken it up to Uni and Woods when mediocrity reigned supreme in most other clubs. These things are cyclical and renewal in any organisation is necessary.

Until Saturday......

Yep after watching Gordon forwards take it up mightily on Saturday a couple of the MMM's backs steered around by Sam might be just what you need ;)

Not sure the problem at 9 exists either with but maybe look down the playing roster a bit further......

Not convinced that my club aren't just making change for change's sake. When I questioned it I was told "He's had two full years".
Too many blokes on golden parachutes in beasties management?

Pretty sure he asked for a pay rise. The risk you take.

Maybe he did.
But thats just an opportunity to negotiate: we'll give you half and if you get us to the top half of the semis in 2017 we'll give you the other half.
There may, of course, be an issue with cash - but we've got more sponsors than Lewis Hamilton.

Well not that it matters but the first four (Fraser, Gukibau, Sala, Wilson) have all played in the NRC. Sala for Brisbane City has been a big find late in the season.

A full strength Gordon pack would be more than capable I think with Jordan Goddard and Harry Rorke. Roni Scarano is also a big and tall peice of timber as well but is injured. Depth the issue...

As you said the club's lacks someone to steer us around the park at 10(was going to be Jack McGregor!), 15 has been a problem since Mark Preston played in his early years as well. Either way we need to find at least two players in the 10,12,15 region who are good territorial kickers as at the moment Terry Preston is playing 10 as the best kicker but his best position is halfback.

The likes of Brandon Quinn, Sam Mete, Paula Balakana would look very good at the end of a forward pack going forward and a backline that is playing off that.

Easy to say though the board need to decide if it's the coach or the budget the coach has that is attracting/developing players of the required standard/results.

Hmm, what was the expectation two years ago?
They are a good chance of running 4th in club champs this year.
There is depth in grade, with plenty of talent also coming through colts.
Must have been some pretty ambitious KPI's!

Yes well said. However, watching Gordon for many years and the current crop of colts i would say Andrew Bligh is very capable at 10 and should be given the opportunity to develop there (Also watched him playing for Joeys). I think this will create better opportunity for the likes of McDougall, Balekana and Quinn on the edges.

I'd like to see someone from Gordon list a team of ex-Gordon players playing with other Sydney clubs. I can think of a few such as Gower, Coupland, Barry, Tom Hill. Is there a full team?

How much stronger would Gordon be with those guys in the team?

It seems the bottom 4 teams this year (Penrith, Gordon, Parra, Wests) all have quite a few quality players who've left to join other clubs.
