Too many 'chosen ones' who have only ever lived a charmed life from high school into the Tah's.

Honestly I would be happy if next weeks forward pack was Hooper plus the best performers in this weekends Shute Shield.

Only if you include a Steve Finane-like hard man who will belt up those guys who keep cleaning us out when we are standing behind or beside the breakdown in defence.
This strategy takes out the pillar or post (still using those terms?) and prevents slide defence from starting early.
We let it happen. Bring in a tough nut from Grade to get the retaliation going.

What did the Fox commentators say about Hooper? That he leads the tackle count AND run meters for the Tahs?
That shouldn't be the case. Proof that many others are not performing.

I actually sat through that farce. First Tahs game I have watched for a few weeks now and I am sure I could have done something better.

Anyway my thoughts:-
1) F^%$^& amateurish. They have dropped more ball this year than any professional team should drop in an entire season, maybe two.
2) Folau is a ball hog and should be played on the wing and can sweep at fullback. However he has not played a good game in how long now 12 months or longer? Hasn't looked like having a good game and is average at best.
3) Ta'avao - WTF is he doing getting paid to be a professional player? As I said when he was signed I was told by a rabid Blues fan that he was the worst prop that the fan had ever seen and wasn't up to NPC standard let alone super standard and he had shown absolutely no potential at the Blues, he thought it a great joke that the Tahs signed him. I really had to trust this blokes opinion on the matter as he is an ex NPC prop himself from many years ago. Shit scrums, knocks, a wet rag in the maul. What value? Yet Alalatoa was apparently identified as a lesser prospect.
4)Did I say F%$#%&ing amateurish? When the penalty attempt hit the post in the second half the Tahs virtually walked to collect the ball and support, that includes the supposedly fresh reserve players. That isn't even considering the accurate assessment of Kafer with regard to their set up for the penalty in the first place. Just a joke. A big part of this is the inescapable fact that Hooper is not a Captain's arse or else the lack of basic application would not be a recurring theme in his team on the field. Other examples were the total failure to set up for exits properly leading to a very easy charge down.
5) Naiyaravoro - they pick the bloke on the wing for very obvious reasons and give the ball to him on precisely 3 occasions. This wasn't because he wasn't in a position to receive the ball, in fact he was in good position outside Folau on many occasions, but Folau failed to try and position his outside player and never once looked to pass the ball. Just utter failure to use the players selected for the reasons they were selected. Have I said amateurish?
6) Defence was far better, but really it couldn't get much worse, that said line speed was much better and I think Horne is a big key to that.
7) Maul defence - Only one Tah player has shown any capability to defend a maul, and he was replaced with the game in the balance for somebody who is supposed to be better in the air, yet the Tahs did not once try and challenge those lineouts in their 22 once instead attempting to defend the maul without the only player in the pack able to do so and the powder puff reserve THP as well (not that the starting LHP that he replaced was any better).
8) Gibson - I think it has to be accepted that he is now a dead man walking. The Tahs are a rabble.

I chose drinking. Didn't help, except to make my language more fruity.

I try not to drink on my own under such duress, far too dangerous to my health and my bank balance as things may get badly damaged, and then my wife would damage me.

Admittedly I am a Hooper fan, but I am trying to put that aside in answering your post.
I think that the set ups for penalty receipts and 22 exits are down to specific instructions from Gibson. Most forwards are drilled for many years to set up in scrum formation in front of the posts when a penalty kick is aimed at them, so to do something different must be the result of following a coach's game plan.
I do agree about one thing though. If Hooper's 80 minute enthusiasm isn't enough to inspire the rest of the team, we are in big trouble.

Tahs game tonight = same reason Wallabies fail against All Blacks. Until we understand that it's absolutely life and death and play over the edge (and push the rules at every opportunity) we will continue to be left behind. Who was the absolute mongrel take no prisoners leader in the Tahs pack tonight? Didn't sight him myself. The Kiwis will generally have minimum 3-5 of these in their 1-8 enabling their backs to feed off this. Cheika gets this and showed it when coaching the Tahs to win the title in 2014 and has got a the Wobblies close with the same approach but we still lack real c#*~s in the team!
