I would have thought Cheika's true strength lies almost entirely in man management and motivation. He certainly not a master tactician.

no, he should go and understudy Jake White or even Dave Wessels
edit: I think it is a nature thing, u have got it or you haven't, the loud bluster and motivation thing only works short term.

Wobblies need Joe Powell, Genia is shit, Phipps is an arse who might get them penalised all the time, why the same backrow?, Hanigan was average, Timani should start at 8, mcmahon moved to 6, TPN at 2, Moore's done, best to bring him off the bench now..can't complain about the backs but i'd rather prefer Beale at 15, Folau on a wing ..though Ioane made a fool of Folau when he went around him and scored try last weekend.

Does anybody besides Cheik and his assistants ACTUALLY think that a back row group of
a) 6 - Hanigan, 7 - Hooper 8 - McMahon 20 - FUCKING DEMPSEY (with Timani, Korzyck as back ups)

is superior to

b) 6 - Fardy, 7 - Hooper, 8 - Timani or Higgers, 20 - McMahon (with Higgers/Timani + Hanigan as back ups)

What the actual FUCK are they thinking?

P.S this is not to pretend that Timani, Higger and Fardy don't all have their deficiencies because they do but I will not accept that the selection of our back row group for 2017 has been anything less than a clusterfuck.

Cheika clearly wasn't a fan of Fardy and pushed him out.

Why, is fucken beyond me, when he was the best 6 we had since Finnegan. All we needed then was an 8 and Timani would have filled that role well enough

Not me. But at the moment neither Fardy nor Higgers is in the squad and could never have been selected.

Across the available players the three chosen are probably the best. hanigan may bounce off players but he can jump (pretty much the only back rower here to jump much) and he's got a good motor.

The light backrow is fine because we have such solid centers... hang on.

I think they are expecting our set piece to be under much greater pressure and Simmons is a better lineout unit

The real question is....
Would Cheika have selected Fardy if Fardy was going to the Waratahs for 2018 rather than overseas, and....
If Simmons was going overseas next year rather than to the Waratahs, would he have been omitted?
Stick that in your corn pipe & smoke it.

Citation needed.

Seems like he did his job on Saturday and had the best game out of the starting backrowers.

Did he make any dominant tackles or carries? No.

Did he make any effective clean outs when it mattered? No.

There's no silver lining in being the best of a bad bunch. He wasn't good. He was simply less bad then the rest.

Which is enough to get picked again.

It's a pretty reasonable argument that your original post singling him out is pretty baseless.

He wasn't outstanding but credit where credit is due, he probably played the best test of his short career so far against the best opposition.

Alloutrugby which provides stats for dominant tackles lists Hooper and Hanigan as having two each for the Wallabies.

Part of the problem was that the All Blacks had Cane with 4, Read 3, Sopoaga, Taylor and Linert-Brown with 2 giving them substantial dominance in that category (a total of 19 vs 7).

Don't see teams coming into it. Fardy was our incumbent, and was pushed out of favour to the point he decided to cash in on his last few years if he wasn't going to get a gig in gold any more.

The question is, why did he fall out of favour? Form I doubt as he was still clearly a better option. Cheika lost Fardy's support in the dressing room? Personality clash?

No idea but I want an answer, especially as we STILL have no other decent options as a result.

I'm not sure what Cheika would achieve being an understudy to a lesser experienced, far less successful coach such as Wessels...

imo leadership is a nature thing, need to be born with a macro outlook and an IQ to be able to understand all inputs, collate them all and come out with the best decision and be able to justify it. Everybody is heard and thus still engaged in the team outcome.
Yes it is prob a waste of time because I don't think Chek has the required base minerals. We will always under achieve in a high stress environment. Just doing enough at the end of each series to keep everyone in their positions, this is individual self preservation from players nothing to do with great teams and good leaders.

So when was the last time Fardy was making dominant tackles, clean outs or carries?

Fardy's strength has always been slowing the ball down, set piece and turnovers; two of which under the current ruck rules also make you a penalty magnet

I have not, it will surprise you to know, been an elite sportsman and am not a doctor or physio, but, should it not be clear that:

a)we needs an outside centre who is fully fit when playing the finest rugby team the galaxy has known, and

b) a player or the staff would know when a player is 2 WEEKS away from full fitness?

More generally, the coach fucking sucks. I'm so pissed that these shit coaches get their deals extended despite not actually achieving anything (Deans was tied up for a longer deal on the basis that if we won the RWC, his value would ^. A risk I would personally have been willing to take). We don't have the $ to buy cheika out so even if the new CEO is not a complete bellend, we are stuck with him thru '19. Pulver could have given MC a 12 month deal and if didn't like, he could have walked.

He was doing so in the Super Rugby Semi final, in case you missed it.

That's a quality rant, but I think you're talking out your arse here.........
