so in order to rub salt into the wound how long before the Rebels, Brumbies, Tahs and Reds announce their new signings ? the notices to re-locate to the Force players were sent several weeks ago.

I hope the Rebels stay the fuck out of that quagmire and let the other vultures in. Bad vibes all round man.

My understanding is the reason the Rebels have such a sparse roster is they have signed a majority of our team in the case we were cut.

So the die is already cast.

I find this ambivalence interesting. I live in Melbourne and have been a Rebels member since their inception. Yet I followed the Reds from when I first started playing (just prior to the Rebels starting) and I could never fathom supporting another team.

I might not support the ARU or what ever administration but when it comes to the Reds and the Wallabies, fickle I am not.

I'm potentially even impressed that you can so wilfully sever yourself from your team. But as a true rugby fan (as we all are), how can you be so nonchalant with your support?

Because the ARU have betrayed all fans, not just the Force? Plus he can empathize cause he's human n stuff.

i completely agree but it is inevitable, and all the players who are at risk will want to know where they stand. there are rumours galore about who has been signed pending the outcome of the legal battles. my understanding is the ARU have been heavily involved in the redistribution of the playing roster

I can answer that from my viewpoint - as interest in super rugby was already waning and with the current fiasco less confident the ARU has found the right path to improve the professional game. So yes is more disinterest in way professional game going so hence reverting to club rugby. Just following the many that have already made that decision as in case you have not noticed oz Super Rugby crowds are well down so I am more with the majority with my loss of interest than the minority it seems.

Who ultimately are you punishing though?

The Exec and Board of the ARU who everyone is most upset at are the ones who are most immune from things falling apart in Australian rugby.

The players are the most at risk and are the ones that most directly benefit from people turning up to support them.

The Brumbies actually have just gone on with business as usual and have nearly filled their squad..........

Apparently there's only two backline positions open.

Yeah it's the elephant in the room. I'm more focused on how the announcements are stage-managed. It's a pretty sad time for all, and to have the Rebels/Tahs/etc/etc media units pumping out the standard fanfare will feel a bit rotten.

So they should continue to support a dead/dying product that has been completely mismanaged and everyone generally feels is a big of a fluffybunnyfest these days because they grew up supporting a team in what was essentially a completely different comp to what exists now?

I think not.

Twiggy announced a new breakaway Indo-Pacific comp. Not surprising I guess, given the level of rage (and money) backing him in.

General question - is Wallabies eligibility determined by holding a Super Rugby contract or just playing in Australia? There'd have to be big bucks on the table to entice the top-tier players to stay in a comp that didn't offer a pathway into a rep jersey.

Again, I don't feel like I turn up at a rugby game supporting a "product".

I support the team and the players and enjoy watching rugby of all varieties, particularly live.

The politics, competition structure and bureaucracy are the last things on my mind when actually watching a game. They are certainly things to focus on outside of the game and to campaign for positive changes.

I don't really get how or why I should like my team less (or any of the teams) because the conference structure is crap or the ARU board are making poor decisions.

It is currently.

The situation would have to be reviewed if a number of big name players were playing in a rival competition.

Call it what you want but all of those things constitute a "product" that is sold to you. Conveniently for them you've a strong affiliation with it.

You may be able to dissociate certain elements of the game from others. Others can't.

Some people buy blood diamonds, others don't.

I don't suggest everyone should 'support' Super Rugby, but I will still go to events that show Australia's best players.

Don't get me wrong, I think the Super competition is on it's last legs, the current ARU management are a total disgrace and axing the Force is possibly one of the worst decisions made in the game, and is a massive setback for one of rugby's best growth areas and a massive free kick for our rival codes.

However, I don't see how depriving myself from watching our best players go around changes that. If you don't enjoy the game, sure don't go, that's fine, but if you do the only losers are yourself and the players if you don't go.

These are indeed, as has been said, black days for Aus rugby. It won't be changed by everyone saying 'they've stuffed it up, I'm not playing any more'. It's really a test of the rugby supporter base as to whether we re-build the game, or just give up.

Disappointing but not surprising.

Now we have to see Cam Clyne's smug punchable face saying things along the lines as......."blah blah blah strong performances............blah blah blah trim the fat.............blah blah blah costs and benefits.............blah blah blah"

I hope the Senate inquiry exposes large-scale corruption on the board. The process was an absolute sham

That is the way it should be. And it is a tragic day when I feel it necessary to say, "it is not, however, the way that it is."

'Up to us to rebuild'. I hate that tired old rhetoric thrown at us everytime some idiot in authority has cocked up.

The ONLY power we have is spending power. Literally the only way we can make any kind of vague impact on the course of the game. Otherwise we have no say at all. And yet the directions are; yep continue spending and watching the tripe that is dished up as a result of unconscionable conduct on behalf of the board to support the game.

WE WILL REBUILD! by doing exactly what we've already been doing.

jesus.
