All the Rebels back lines being throw around have Lance a shoe in for 10, have a feeling Wessels wanted Adams for a reason. Was his first target outside of Force players.

Adams is very promising mate, I really liked him in NRC 2016 and 17, but he'd be on 3rd string flyhalf money (and rightfully so).

I'm sure other Super rugby teams pursued him with a similar role in mind because he's a promising bloke, but nobody would've seen him as a *likely* starter. He could well be in a better position by end of 2018, but I have ZERO doubt the Rebels won negotiations with Worcester to bring Lance back with the intentions to start him. Lets remember Adams went uncontracted in the Shute Shield in 2017 as a 23 year old (young, but later then blokes usually get their first contract).

^^^^^^ disagree completely, as i posted above, by season end i think he will be starting 10. just how soon that occurs will depend upon Lances's fitness and how many games the Rebels have won. he is already ranked higher than McGregor if the training teams are any indication (and they are)

The meeting with the coach thing the Rebels held Wessels talked highly of Adams and did not mention Lance at all.

Lance is a good 10, but his not the sort of ten who wins you titles on the field.

It's strange you disagree completely, when nothing you've said directly contradicts anything I've said.

Do you think the Rebels negotiated to keep Lance on the basis of him being second string to Adams? Do you think influential people within the Rebels would draw up a depth chart for round 1 2018 and place Adams at #10?

Despite being a very promising 10, as I've discussed, Adams didn't even lead his Shute Shield or NRC teams to the finals last year (let alone titles).

I think fan's passion for him in the short term is more based around people's natural interest in the 'next big thing' rather than a realistic gauge of his current talents.

Presuming Lance is sewed up completely, Adams will get some minutes throughout the year with injury and maybe be wearing the starting jersey by the end of the year. I STRONGLY doubt that's 'Plan A' though. I'd say Plan A is get him development minutes here and there, followed by a big NRC, and then he becomes a real prospect in 2019 (which I believe is when he becomes Aussie qualified?).

I would say the Rebels #10 depth chart in the IMMEDIATE future goes Lance -> Hodge -> Adams -> McGregor (who will play 20s)

The Rebels are happy for Lance to return to the UK. The terms of his agreement with Worcester will determine whether that happens or not. RA has been suggesting to the Rebels that Lance is not a player of national interest and they are encouraging the Rebels to let him go.

Find it strange that just because he is not of national interest he should be let go. he is still a very attractive super rugby player. Our Super Rugby sides aren't struggling because we are losing Wallabies, we are struggling because we have a few wallabies and heaps of rookies. Journeymen, professional players like Lance is exactly what we need more of.

He started for the Reds in their win.

Would he have stayed in the UK if he hadn't been injured?

Yes. And agree with the poster above - encouraging players to end contracts early and head overseas if they're not in the Wallaby frame is precisely why we're struggling. Look at Steve Cummins - just finished his best year of 3 in Super Rugby, and then released early to head to Wales. Such a shame.

Rebels only signed Jono Lance 7 weeks ago, why would they have done so if they wanted to release him??....

Still, there's a limited amount of variables to make you change your mind in an off-season. The only two reasons to ditch Lance would be that Adams or the Hodge-experiment were thoroughly impressive.
