    Wallabies v Barbarians - 1/11/14 (Twickenham)

From what I've heard, it's not that the game wears on their cohesion but getting on the piss pretty hard in the lead up to the match.

    Next Wallabies Coach.

Bookies would almost certainly give you better odds. But you'd still be betting. (Btw, I'm not defending Beale. I'm inclined to agree that it was probably luck. But we don't actually know. We're just guessing.)

    Next Wallabies Coach.

No, but he might have been intimidated into pulling his head enough not to act like a tool for 6 months. And if he's as much of an absolute loose cannon as you seem to think, that's not nothing. Or maybe it was just luck. Hard to say.

    Ewen McKenzie Resignation

Mostly my response would be the same as BH's. It's rare for coaches to last a long time with teams in any sport. It takes a special combination of coach, organisation and player stability. By it's very nature, a representative team is not going to have the same coach for a long time precisely...

    Ewen McKenzie Resignation

I'm a big fan of the NFL. My team is the 49ers. Their coach, Jim Harbaugh, is one of the best in the NFL and has led the team to three straight championship games (the game to get to the Super Bowl) and one Super Bowl (which they lost). For the last year plus, he's been the subject of constant...

And among those there are some with a certain panache, no doubt.

I prefer my bait fresh, thanks.

    Next Wallabies Coach.

    It was (mostly) a joke.

Any chance you could just make it a red and save us all from the overweening arrogance permanently?

    Ewen McKenzie Resignation

Of course they should have responded better. But many have accused them of a palace plot to overthrow the coach, called them disloyal and all sorts of things with only those comments to go off. I've read most of what's been published on this saga and I've yet to see anything that actually proves...

    Ewen McKenzie Resignation

I think it would be appropriate if the "no innuendo and slander" rule that has been thoroughly -- and rightly -- applied to Patston and McKenzie be applied to the players as well. Beyond a whole lot of utter speculation, much of what I've been reading here, particularly about AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) and Hooper...

    Wallaby Captaincy

His ceiling as a fetcher and defender was McCaw, if not higher, but Pocock was never going to come close as a runner or link man. That's what makes McCaw and Smith such remarkable players -- all the classic skills of the position at the highest standard possible and then playmaking abilities...

    Wallaby Captaincy

And they'd never learned to use it anyway, so it was easy to give away.

    Wallaby Captaincy

I don't think there's anything "wrong" with Horwill as captain, but nor do I think he showed such great leadership that this adds to his case for selection. He was a solid Wallaby captain. If he regains sufficient form to be a regular starter, then certainly he'd be in the running. And it's not...

    Wallaby Captaincy

Pocock was not a great Wallaby captain, nor was Horwill, nor was Genia. Hooper isn't either, but going back to a retread is not the answer. If the team is going to move on from Hooper (and I'm not convinced they should, although he is looking shaky), I'd prefer Slipper.
