    Olympic sevens selection

"just started playing rugby twelve weeks ago" which makes it pretty.fucking.unbelievable. tell you what, if you're an elite national level sprinter but just not quite fast enough to make it into the $$/Olympics, this would be a much more fun and comradely way of being an athlete than running...

Interesting article today, Phipps cannot understand why on earth Wales haven't selected Delve. http://news.theage.com.au/breaking-news-sport/no-delve-for-wales-baffles-wallabies-20121129-2aex8.html

Starting a new rugby club an insane idea? Gippsland, Vic.

not really. My hope now is to try and start a 7s program on the back of olympic excitement in 2016 or 17.

The TV Broadcasting of Australian Rugby

I'm a big fan of this repeat the next morning. Apart from the fact it's a bit early for a beer, I quite like watching the overnight international at 9.30 am. next week, Aus v Italy, 9.30 am on Channel 11. Aww, I can't watch the bolt report!

Herald Sun Article - Rugby boring

I can't stand rugby league (such a boring and limited game), but if you think that proper rugby is in great shape, I think you're deluded. Market share has gone backwards in recent years. It's impenetrable to new viewers, the refereeing and rules interpretation is arbitrary, whimsical even, the...

Mostly Friday night fixtures works for me. But one or two Sunday afternoon games would have been appreciated, I'm not taking my 7 year old to a Friday night game.

O'Connor at 12. A bit wasted on the wing.

How much does a S15 player earn?

The salary cap for an Aussie super team is about $4M for 30 players (and I assume the EPS players get sod-all). So on average that's $133k a player. Big names get up to $400k so the journeymen get $50 -$80k. Yeah it's not setting them up for life but they aren't all rugby all the time, they can...

The TV Broadcasting of Australian Rugby

The telly guide says that Imparja (channel 9 GEM regional subsidiary) has it starting at 9.50 pm on Saturday. Is Gippsland getting a better service than Melbourne??? Or, as has happened before, you can't believe it.

Know any fit young women who want to go to the Olympics?

Just like Hugh Jarse, heard it on the radio this morning, thought I'd do my community service bit.

    Gay Rugby World Cup

AlexH, yes, you are missing something here. As has been made perfectly clear upthread, no one at all is expecting or asking for special treatment. Can you point to where this is happening? Meanwhile, it's accepted as true that professional gay rugby players would find it very hard to come out of...

    Rebels 2013

There's a huge argument either way. Personally I agree with you. He's looked good there when he has played - but what's best for the wallabies, and what's wrong with FB, shouldn't he keep progressing at 15? O'Connor shouldn't be a half, he should be a centre, whatever his personal preference.

Know any fit young women who want to go to the Olympics?

A campaign has just been launched to interest female athletes from any endeavour (OK gymnastics and ballet probably wont cut it) to consider Rugby 7s as a "Pathway to Gold". There are try-outs in the next few months, leading to the Women's world Cup next year and obviously the Olympics in 2016...

    Rebels 2013

Still $150 versus $25 for game day admission, so you'd have to go to more than six games for this to be almost worthwhile. Not gonna happen for me, I'll only make it to about three games a season.
