Pumas vs Wallabies, 25th July 2015, Mendoza

I think the Hooper/Pocock combination worked great, and provided a lift in intensity, but I'd like to continue to see it as an option used at about the 50th minute. Sometimes the better player can be better served coming from the bench. He may make the team 3 points better if he starts and plays...

    Rugby TV ratings 2015

I agree generally, for example for the RL, but 10 could be pulling some viewership from Fox if they offered HD for the rugby. I'm not sure that the metrics would stack up to actually make it profitable, but I don't think it's as straightforward as it is for general viewing.

    Rugby TV ratings 2015

Eyeballing those figures, this Test actually looks pretty decent compared to last year. The early NZ tests were off the back of a Tahs Super win, so it's no surprise we didn't get near them. It doesn't look like they're killing it, but a win in Argentina could see some good interest coming into...

    Rugby TV ratings 2015

That was actually something that annoyed me a bit. It's very frustrating that 10 didn't show the game in HD in Sydney, as it improves the viewing experience by so much.

    Japan Super Rugby team

It's a travesty that Japan have to have foreigners playing to make them competitive. It's a good thing Australia has only Australian born and bred players in our team. We can score 82nd minute winners without any foreigners and Japan should have to do the same.

    Waratahs 2016

I think that's a pretty big call to say that they're bad for the sport. They facilitate all sorts of deals that ensure players can be spotted and try to improve their exposure to increase value. Not to mention they mean that players can concentrate on their game rather than negotiating their...

    Waratahs 2016

I think most of these guys are pretty professional, and could still do a pretty good job, even if they don't 100% want to be there. It's still in their best interests to perform in order to increase their value on the next contract. I can believe there would be a drop in performance when they...

Wallabies v. Springboks, 18th July 2015, Suncorp, Brisbane

Sure, but it will have been 3-5 weeks since players have played a game, plus I don't think another 60 minutes on top of the 1100 or so have already been played will make a huge difference. I don't think the Wallabies have all that many players who will benefit more from rest than they will from...

Karmichael Hunt charged with cocaine supply.

Do they profit from the misery of others, or from giving others enjoyment and exactly what they want?

Karmichael Hunt charged with cocaine supply.

Hunt got into trouble with the law, as many other players from many other codes have done before him. He got in trouble for doing something that I'm sure many other rugby players and staff do fairly regularly. It would be a very dangerous precedent to sack him over recreational drug use, as it...

    Waratahs 2016

Just because you're over 30, it doesn't mean you lose any value you can give the team though. I think its a mistake to play players just because they might head off elsewhere. Not every player signed will see minutes at the Super level.

    Waratahs 2016

I understand the need to promote youth with potential, but this would be a bit of throwing the baby out with the bath water. The Waratahs don't have the finances or the fan base to afford them the luxury of a bad season to rebuild for the future. Not playing guys who have been very good Super...

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

Hmm, I think Carter's hair put him over the line. Not to mention that permanent sort of sneering smile. Definitely a topic with plenty of subjectivity though!

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

I always said he probably has the most punchable face in rugby. As BH said though, it was OUR punchable face!

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

John: Only people with Tahs bias like Palu Everyone: What about all these people with no Tahs bias John: Let's hope no one selects him because he sucks! Me: Palu is a very effective defender and capable ball runner John: LOL, no way! He sucks! I'm not sure who you're trying to convince but...

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

He has an immense work rate, is bruising in defense and is a more than capable ball runner and operator at the back of the scrum. An argument can be made for him not being the first choice 8, but to claim it's impossible to think so is a fair way off the mark.

    Waratahs 2016

They're not allowed to put any more cover on Allianz if they use public funding, due to a deal done with ANZ Stadium when it was first built. I don't see the stadium being covered any time soon.

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

I would add that he's not Test hardened yet. Giving a guy with 50 tests a few extra weeks break might be great for recovery. Giving a guy with 5 tests a break means he misses out on valuable Test experience.
