Nothing really does the job well for turf burn. Rigid strapping tape works best for covering preexisting cuts but it restricts your movement and tends to come off on knees and elbows. Compression sleeves aren't fun in hot weather and the ball slides off them easier compared to bare skin on your...

    Brumbies 2024

The argument for playing Hospital Cup or Shute Shield would be that it's a higher standard of play than the local competition and the benefits for Super Rugby development outweigh any potential loss of cohesion or training synergy. Is that always the case? Depends.

We've all had a hardo coach who draws a bit too many parallels between military/war and sport. Funny to see that the higher echelons of rugby aren't immune.

Yeah purely speculation on my part. Would be interested to see a breakdown in the data they're using to claim a reduction in injury (e.g. a significant fall in contusions and cuts paired with a minor rise in ligament and joint injuries would still count as a reduction in injury). Also...

I can't speak to that specific technology but I am wary of synthetic turf. Higher injury risk, boiling hot in the sun, and friction burns. Feels like choosing the lesser of two evils between synthetic and the current set-up at Brothers.

Multiple players have said Japanese rugby compared to Super Rugby is much less physical and more oriented toward running/offload rugby. Considering we looked physically over-matched on the weekend I'm not sure a bunch of Japan-based players will be as beneficial in reality as they would be on...

I hope a substantial carve-out of that budget is for new grass and drainage. Brothers is a rough place to hit the dirt.

    QLD Colts 2024

Bad day to be a certain very social media-oriented coach. Failing to make finals with a traditional powerhouse is not ideal for your brand.

They're wealthy and thus have perks like free strapping for Saturdays and training or internships/jobs to throw around. They have a brand around Brisbane as evidenced by the number of navy caps with a white B I see outside of rugby. Most of their friends head there. Wallabies and Reds seem to...

Wallabies v Springboks, Sat 10th August 2.30pm AEST @ Suncorp,

At least you admit you're no longer interested in Australian rugby doing well. Do something productive with your life. I recommend volunteering at a local junior club.

Calling out my comprehension of English when you're a grown man that talks like this is an interesting move. Your team in Melbourne is dead. Get over it. Make a meaningful contribution to the discussion or go follow AFL.

are you going to make a coherent point or are you going to spend every post crying about imagined slights against Melbourne or your preferred players?

Negativity gets clicks, especially in a landscape where traditional print media is on life support because it's rarely better than the competition. I saw a post on an NRL forum where a person asked ChatGPT to write an article about a rumored player move and it cranked out a polished article...

would be fun initially but the novelty would wear off fast if it's not finals

I reckon you can turn up to compete without playing to the opponent's strengths instead of our own. Calling for a scrum on every penalty would suit the Boks, whereas taking a quick tap and running the ball with off-loads benefits our more mobile pack. If we do scrum, mimic Fiji and use it as a...

Colts mostly are, would honestly be surprised if more than a quarter of grade rugby players are students at UQ though. Probably an even smaller proportion for Prems.

    Queensland Reds 2025

That's a raw deal, Tim Ryan deservedly received plenty of accolades this year but Grealy was a very safe and consistent presence on the other wing.

I thought we were trying to get rid of the caterpillar ruck?

    Queensland Reds 2025

Thomas always looks great after time away but then slowly reverts back to a habit of taking ages to pry the ball out of the ruck and not putting any speed on his delivery. It's like he gets into his own head.

For those capable of playing both, it's silly to not take the more numerous and straight forward opportunities for payment league offers. Even if you're a goldenboy prodigy that went to the right schools and followed the right pathways, you can pull a Sualii and start in league and then wait...
