I’m well aware buddy, I’ve probably spent more time in the states than you have. It’s bigger than the NFL in regions where the NFL doesn’t have teams or only recently started franchises. You’re being reductive if you think I mean only the current student body. Students become alumni who raise...

College football's tribalism is built on fans who spent 4 years from 18-22 living on a campus where the entire social scene of 30k+ students revolves around drinking, their university's football team, and nothing else. Very little about college football is transferable to Super Rugby.

    Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

If you want to reach younger fans these days, you have to allow for some degree of content to trickle out on tikok/reddit/social media. Locking it behind a paywall just ensures people take in interest in other sports.

    Qld Premier Rugby 2024

I'm inclined to agree. If it's a well-managed game then Brothers should win. But if things get chaotic that will give Wests room to capitalize off of broken play with their back and loose forward link ups.

It was interesting watching Uru, for an experienced Super Rugby player with a Wallaby cap under his belt he was letting relatively mild sideline chat distract him from the game. Could visibly see him glancing away from play toward the sideline and reacting throughout the entire 80. No one else...

1st half was well-contested by both teams but the 2nd half was dominated by Wests and that's ultimately what made the difference along with being far more clinical at the try line. Not a perfect game by either team but Wests were definitely the better of the two and deserved the win. From the...

The nicest Wallabies jersey from 2010 to present

Unsure what it was about the early 2010s that convinced kit manufacturers everywhere that unnecessary contrast piping was a mandatory feature needed in every jersey. Newer jerseys > older jersey by virtue of no unnecessary piping or asymmetrical added contrast panel.

Wonder how the rugby bug bit him. Gridiron football and in particular college and high school football is a religion in Dallas/Abilene/Lubbock. There are high schools with 10k+ seat stadiums and a plurality of 5 star and 4 star recruits come out of that area. Going back to the topic, unsure...

There's a lot of talk about what Brothers does wrong, some of it from me and my bag of sour grapes. It's also worth discussing what they do right considering every grade made finals. In terms of culture, coaching, and organization structure are there lessons for other clubs that could help...

Surely QRU has responsibility rather than GPS in that scenario if they gave clearance? GPS would be filthy about that and would have wished they'd gotten it in writing. I won't begrudge a club for following the letter of regulations rather than the spirit of them, especially in higher grades...

    Qld Premier Rugby 2024

I'm sympathetic to the "best player available" argument that rewards clubs for building depth and allocates players on merit. My counter would be then why prevent currently ineligible higher grade players from dropping down and playing 2s or 3s if Prems miss finals? Wading into the subjective...

    Qld Premier Rugby 2024

"If they aren't kicking out a long term squad member of the team they're joining" is a big assumption. Maybe it increases the odds of Colts returning, but it probably decreases the odds of the grades players returning. Compete in finals with the players you had during the season. Especially in...

Wallabies v Springboks, Sat 17th August 2024 Perth

His body height into contact is atrocious though, which is aggravated by the fact that he's 6'5". It's not as big of a deal in league but he would get abused at 12 unless he irons out that tendency.

Wallabies v Springboks, Sat 17th August 2024 Perth

A lot of the negatives about the game are attributable to talent discrepancy, lack of cohesion, and a new coach. But going along with my earlier complaint about going off their feet in rucks and the point @Running_rugby_1954 made, if the South Africans are going to stretch the rules then why...

Is my judgement wrong or are South Africa off their feet on the majority of the rucks they clean out?
