    CAS Rugby 2022

Played on Knox 1 which was a great experience for the boys. Barker has some strong players - I’m not a B parent. I have to say though, this CAS age group is far weaker than their GPS counterparts.

Confirming that you said only 22 players in opens rugby? Sad if true. It feels like the GPS and CAS might be asleep at the wheel or at least more should be done to create a good rugby experience for High. Big winning and losing margins doesn’t help anyone. It kills the sport.

Thanks for the 3rds reports. Kings have big forwards and bully sides physically. Shore may say they were dirty but I didn’t see it that way.

a trophy for the winner of a ‘school championship’ as well as recognising the winner of the 1sts and 2nds, would be a good idea. Points awarded for winners across grades and age groups. It would reduce the desire by schools to do the thing that can’t can’t be mentioned here, and highlight the...

    CAS Rugby 2022

That is ridiculous coming from a Waverley supporter. All schools do it or try to do it in some form and before some parents claim it doesn’t happen at their school, that’s BS. ‘In some form’ is something you need to think about. I’m not a barker parent. There is a very easy solution to the...

Good to hear. Must have a great pie or burger. Is it played on the main cricket oval or in front of the new building (rosewood?). Looking forward to seeing the barker #10. Barker look strong. Knox had a large number of boys in NSW 1 and 2s from what I saw. Should be a cracker!

Might go and watch that now it appears the gps comp is decided. Where is it being played? Good viewing? Good tuckshop? 3 key ingredients.

New 2nds looked reasonably good. Didn’t get the biscuits today but 17-7 is certainly competitive. I think the performances of the 2nds and 3rds gives you an indication of the depth of rugby at the school. The performances of the 1sts can be influenced by the word that shall not be mentioned.

Finally some sunshine and rugby! Shore oval looks great today from the hawker stand. A shore pie would also be nice. But surface much better at Joeys and kings. For a school that’s not short of coin, shore could do better with the athletics track. It looks like the lines are in the shape of...

I didn’t go to a gps school so I don’t care but I played on many fields. The surface at joeys is great but the surrounds are not. Unless you are in the small, old and uncomfortable grandstand, which is impossible because it’s full of joeys boys, it’s a bad viewing ground. It’s a bit...

Re comments on sporting fields and lack of Scots grounds…..This is what I was told during a tour of Kings…didn’t end up sending my boys there…..King’s large property used to be owned by George Burns (Burns Philp). George was a Presbyterian and when he died he gave the property to the Pres...

Agree. The pitch means it’s harder in the middle but the turf and drainage and surrounding slopes make it the best in my opinion. The shore set up is similar to kings, newer and large stand and change rooms but the field is much harder.

FYI, Scots almost ended up with all Kings’ grounds in nth Parra.

For your GPS tables, I think you might find that there are some Joeys B teams playing those Knox teams that Aloys don’t want to play. Anyway I’m sure it will be confirmed or otherwise as the week progresses.

Aloys 14As and 15As are playing Knox Bs…from CAS thread

Need to check this but I think New 14Bs are playing Kings Cs, and Kings 14Bs are playing Knox.

Yep, 90 and 91 Joeys teams were incredible. Burke was slotting penalties from beyond half way for fun it seemed, which also rubbed your nose in it. I know first hand because I was on the receiving end…
