TRC Round 1: South Africa v Australia, Sunday 21 July 1:05am AEST

Yeah Koroibete, Banks and Beale looks like our back 3. DHP is certainly out of contention now and Hodge hasn't done himself many favours either.

In his defence, his captaincy has been lightyears better than DHP's game.

TRC Round 1: South Africa v Australia, Sunday 21 July 1:05am AEST

We've learned a few important lessons tonight. There's no question DHP is not up to test level anymore. I suspect Koroibete, Banks and Beale is the ideal back 3. Hooper is the worst possible captain choice available. And we desperately need Sio, AAA, Pocock and Koroibete back and starting. But...

DHP again. 8th bungle tonight. Surely his last game in a yellow jersey.

TRC Round 1: South Africa v Australia, Sunday 21 July 1:05am AEST

Has DHP held onto the ball for a run all game yet?

HJH (Harry Johnson-Holmes) for Slipper and we're back to where we started. Any injuries to our main 4 guys - Sio, AAA, Slipper and Tupou will be a huge drop in ability.

Tupou for Kepu alone just doubled our scrum strength.

TRC Round 1: South Africa v Australia, Sunday 21 July 1:05am AEST

I'd like to see Banks on the wing. Our scrum gets fixed next week but atm we're carrying 2 useless wingers as well. Koroibete and Banks with Beale at the back looks like potentially our best side but it'd be good to give the Beale/Banks combo a run here late.

TRC Round 1: South Africa v Australia, Sunday 21 July 1:05am AEST

I just can't have Hooper atm. When the decisions are most obvious, he seems the only guy capable of blundering them consistently. I figured Pocock is the best alternative - if there was another on field right now, they'd be captain now.

TRC Round 1: South Africa v Australia, Sunday 21 July 1:05am AEST

There are a lot of promising signs here though. When Sio and AAA come back in for Kepu and HJH (Harry Johnson-Holmes), Pocock comes back in somewhere, Koroibete comes back in for Hodge and Lilo comes back in for To'omua, the side starts to look quite decent based on what we're seeing here without them.

No doubt. You'd have to think Pocock is a lock as captain and 7 when he's fit.

LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) surprisingly prominent in the lineout.

Gee we'd give our left nut to have Pocock out there in the 7 jersey right now.

Looks pretty good for a first draft. Sio, AAA, Pocock, Lilo, Koroibete all still to come back. If we can start strong here, there's some potential.

Fainga'a wouldn't be out of place either.

I think that has to be the reasoning. Without AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper), if TK gets injured, you're either shifting Kerevi out or a winger in. Maybe better to stick with an experienced specialist and leave the rest as is, as little as he offers these days.

Only thing I can think of is we don't have a back up outside centre.

Starting team looks about right. I'll tip: 16. Uelese 19. LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) 20. Wright 21. Powell 22. Lilo 23. Banks

Standard journalism these days. Gotta sell the "snubs" or "shocks" even when the squad has no surprises.

Simmons over Philip is disappointing. Wright and Dempsey will be fixed when Pocock and Samu are back. Don't see the point of AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper). But overall, better than expected.
