Have heard Hay have already pulled the pin this year & Tumut & Aggies may struggle to field teams. Apparently conditions required for the comp to go ahead are pretty severe. How many other clubs may have second thoughts?

Maybe something like this Athol. No spectators. Home team security at gate. Each pair of teams has use of ground for 2 hours. Come to ground dressed to play. Don’t use change rooms. Warm up, play then after game recovery. Leave ground. Next team. Repeat. 10:00 Reserves. 12:00 Women’s. 2:00 First...

From what I can gather Group 20 won’t run a Reserve Grade comp. Players will be encouraged to come to the ground in their gear. Each use of change rooms will be followed by sanitisation before another team can use it. If getting changed in change rooms players must be 1.5m apart. After games...

Hi Mauler. God forbid we’re relying on the ARU. Can’t believe Siru Board couldn’t have predicted global pandemic. Surely one was just about due. Let’s say we start comp on July 18 & begin training on July 1. One round then finals per program.

Surely the communications that everyone is waiting on Athol are the actual decisions that have been made by the Siru Board. With clubs attempting to re organise themselves they would be looking to the Siru Board for guidance. I know we are in unprecedented times but it’s being said that Central...

Thanks Athol. That explains the rego fee situation. I wasn’t aware of all that. $250 - $400. That’s a fair bit of cash, especially in the current circumstances we’re living in. I don’t have any more idea than anyone else about what might happen re starting Siru comp. Haven’t even heard anything...

What’s the breakdown of money coming out of fees. I mean Athol when a player (junior/senior, his/her) pays fees in the local Siru comp how much goes to the Brumbies. How much goes to RA. How much goes to paying Raeleen’s 800K or the wages of the 150 working out of head office. Izzy’s money...

Well then why is the internal kiwi competition so much better than ours Bubba? Why are we as a national team/squad regularly paying big money to coax rugby league players over to rugby union? I know both the NRL & the AFL have their own difficulties now because of the Coronavirus but they were...

I think we all concede that rugby in Australia at national/state/community levels is at a very low point. Now that there is a long pause in the game isn’t it an excellent opportunity to get off the train going to nowhere. Most people are keen to blame Raelene-Castle. Not fair. We were travelling...

I’d be shocked if Siru played rugby this year. Politicians, medical people all saying the situation we’re in will exist for the next 6 months. Rugby Australia should be honest. Community rugby should start planning for 2021. Speaking of RA, looks like Ms Castle might be working from home in a...

It’s good thing re ref pay. Need to do something. The whole media issue Athol re DA is pretty well explained by Mauler’s post on the subject. I just think Siru & the clubs have to get together to work out a way of maintaining the public’s interest in our sport. ie game reports, happenings at...

Interesting & impressive research Mauler. Can you present some idea or ideas of a way of bringing it up to scratch.

Siru as a zone has a lack of media representation. We are aware of the lack of coverage provided by the DA. Should something like a new Facebook page be initiated (not run by Siru itself ) to provide club news, comment on games, opinions, results, predictions etc.

Leeton attempted to field a 2nd grade last season Reasoning but it didn’t work. A 3rd grade might attract a new demographic to the club. The problem with our rep set up Athol is that we are with the Brumbies. Outside of Canberra itself Siru doesn’t have any real worthwhile competition. The...

You’re new to this zone I believe Athol. Rep is the elephant in the room in SIRU.

The inclusion of Hay. 3rd in 3rds last season equates to a very long season in 1st grade this year.

I have noticed in past years Reasoning that Hay sporting clubs have supported each other with players. The problem they may find in 2020 is that Hay Magpies Rugby League play 10 of their 16 rounds on Saturdays. I think their AFL comp is played on Saturday as well. As you say Reasoning good luck...

Well done Steamers for hosting such an event and also supporting the bushfire situation. When you say a lordly presence Kartman I’ll hazard a guess and say you guys might have invited Pastor Izzy along to your Thursday coaching session.

I watched a lot of games last year ( live and live-streamed ) and they were all expertly and fairly officiated. That’s all we can ask for. How a club fills it’s roster is it’s own business. Outside of past and present players Waratahs could probably hold a fan club meeting in a phone booth. But...

    Southern Inland Rugby 2020

I suggest Siru get someone to do a newspaper style report on their Facebook page each week about the previous weekend’s games. Clubs would have to help by providing information etc. The DA hasn’t been interested in us for years, Reasoning. Given our shortage of match officials the Waratahs club...
