    RWC 2011 - Quarter final 3 : Springbokke v. Wallabies CLOSED

Bryce "I will not make a decision that influences this game in the last 20 minutes" Lawrence got foiled by an AR who saw a blatant penalty.

RWC 2011 - Pool D - Fiji, Namibia, Wales, South Africa, Samoa

Actually he wasn't as good as that. :D:D:D:D

    Rugby spirit

I took Rugby up later in life being from Melbourne. It was only when I left Oz and moved to the Philippines that I started playing Rugby at the age of 29. There I learnt much about the social side of Rugby. The songs, the tours, the camaraderie. Fell in love with the game unequivocally. I...

RWC 2011 - Bitch, moan and discuss - Referees and Law Discussions

And our kiwi friends claim we have chips on our shoulders over the possible/probable "unwelcoming" all black fans. Pot, kettle, black. :D:D

    the way forward for refereeing?

Common sense prevailed. The TMO asked "do you want additional info" (or something like that) the ref said "yes". "The last pass was forward." Try disallowed. That's physically what happened. A blatant forward pass and a ref took an intelligent approach. Thought Clancy had a good game myself.

    Tri Nations Game 4 South Africa v Australia - Saturday 13 August 2011 - 3N2011

Watched Wales v England where after about 15 minutes Allain Rolland stopped the game and told both sides what he expected at the breakdown and ruck. A clean game ensued. Then we get that dog''s bollocks. I hope Paddy watches both games and the gets the Refs on as close to one page as possible...

    Reds v. Crusaders, May 29th, Suncorp - 2011R15

If they're livid just shows their ignorance of the laws of rugby. Ball was still trapped in legs and had to be rucked out. Law 16 and ref's interpretation of the status of the ball. Last time I checked that is what the ref is there for. Not Richie M.

    Reds v. Crusaders, May 29th, Suncorp - 2011R15

The decision was right. Richie had to step over, and then a player could come in and pick it up. That's how it was interpreted and called. Penalty all afternoon long. That's how it had been called all afternoon long.

Having a draft like in AFL

It works in the AFL for a combination of reasons this is based on the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the AFL and the AFLPA. This agreement: - Guarantees minimum salaries and minimum match payments - Minimum list sizes - Minimum 2 year contracts for draftees - Superannuation - Welfare...

    Lions v Reds - 2011R07

14 - 7 penalty count in favour of the Lions. Absolute shocker by Munro. Poor positioning and got the "sequence' at the breakdown wrong so often it wasn't funny. Munro's only saving grace IMO is that Kaplan was so much worse in the Sharks - Stormers game.

    Force v Stormers - 2011R06

Play before the try was a "flying wedge". Three players all hooked up running at the defence. As illegal and dangerous as lifting a player through the horizontal whilst tackling.

    Super Rugby refs inconsistent?

I find missing forward passes and knock-ons the most frustrating. When refs miss that it probably means they're in the wrong position. I noticed that the refs were in the defensive line a lot on the weekend. Not sure if that's a directive or not. Previously they have been instructed to be in...

Kaplan - Can we petition to ensure he never referees an Australian side again?

Gn, My next phrase,"however minimal that hold may be" is the key. It can be as little as just a hand in contact on the player (that's actually the IRB directive). But yes, back on topic, Kaplan should not be allowed into Australia or NZ after July.

Kaplan - Can we petition to ensure he never referees an Australian side again?

Clancy in the England - France game gave one held ruling (Tindall) which denied a Try and missed one which Moore (commentator and qualified ref) rightly pointed out as a mistake. Note: It appeared that a touchie highlighted to Clancy that he missed the held ruling. Note: I'm with Territorian...

    Mungos copycat our 7's program

We already have 10's. So what has he done ? Umm do I try 8's or 9"s. If you want a game with slightly slower than 7's and with a closer structure to 15's you have 10's. Quite widely played in Asia.

    France vs Wallabies, EOYT 2010

Sources in Cardiff inform me that the Wallabies celebrated the All Black victory a little too long. The hangover game was at Twickenham.

    Best Referees In The World

Yeah gotta agree (though I wanted to disagree :-) ). Have taken up reffing. My scrums are good. But getting around the park is a challenge. I'm a former tighthead. It's funny you tell them before the game "you've seen and done most of it" and the 2 front rows behave.

    Best Referees In The World

Wayne Barnes - reffing since the age of 15. has never scrummaged in his entire life. Has absolutely no idea what happens at Scrum engagement time. Has absolutely no idea about what holding back 850 kilos of a scrum while he "paaauuuussseesss" for eternity means. Can't spot a loosehead boring...
