I don't know that McReight should be a lock in at 7. For me, Uru deserves his shot as the other starting lock with LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) , or possibly as a starting 6 if one of the other young locks puts in a strong showing in the preseason. Smith was impressive , no doubt , but Uru arrived and lit it up ahead...

Made me think of Campo's no look over the shoulder peach to Horan in the 91 World Cup Semi Final.

Things looking up for UQ's depth chart in the front row Zander is a helluva prospect and with the right ongoing technical Coaching to round out that raw power and instinct I expect him to be ( in time , if not already ) a first choice Reds No 1

You'd think so. But it's probably reasonable to expect Tom Van Der Schyff back this year that will give an extra dimension into the lock and 6 spots . And in terms of the 9 spot I'd take Hearn over Christensen anyway.

Gone back down South to have another crack. And yes , he was the heart and soul of that pack - a real emotional type of leader.

Also lost in the all this chat is UQ's George Gibson heading South to train with the Tah's through preseason and align with Southern Districts in the Shute Shield next year. The 19 year old had a Prem Grade appearance or two last year but also had a injury plagued season where he only played a...

And I'm not sticking the slipper into poor old Norths but I reckon a lot of the feel good chat is based around a desire to witness progression and success more so than it being based on substantive performance evidence. I reckon the call is to cool the jets.

^Its a good question. About the only Clubs you might say that Norths might surpass at the moment are Souths and Sunnybank - both of whom are on the slide. Or if they aren't sliding - then other Clubs are doing more to widen the gap (Brothers, Easts, Jeeps , Bond , Wests, and UQ)

^ Those that have been able to have trios on the field is pretty impressive let alone 4 ....and then 5. BGS and BSHS have probably comes close to a trio on a couple of occasions - especially late 70's / early 80's That foursome for Nudgee in 81.... Ross Hanley also played Test Match Rugby...

I guess you could put McLean , Loane , and Duncan Hall together , and possibly even with Ross Hanley if the 4 of them ever took the field together. Marist would have had a trio , possibly a foursome , with Eales , Herbert ( or two ) and Scott Young.

Yes ...well done to Reserve Grade ....BUT ....for the personnel they had in Prems and Colts they should have done a lot better than what they did and Happy Man can make a point ( and a fair one ) that they improved over the course of the season (in Colts) ....BUT .....their style of play was one...
