Sydney Stars . NRC Official Team Thread

I haven't seen a lot of Harry Jones so been watching the first 3 NRC rounds with great interest .He seems to kick the ball away whenever his space is shut down instead of taking contact and recycling . Also for such a big bloke , his tackling seems very suspect. Is this fair or is he just rusty...

Andrew Robinson ? There is an Andrew Robinson playing in the ACT for Vikings but surely he'd be playing for UC Vikings?

Sydney Stars . NRC Official Team Thread

Yes, very interesting the starting right wing,Matt Narracott, who played so well against Manly in the Shute semi-final, isn't in this squad. Backed it up with another great game at 15 in the 2nd grade GF, after yo-yoing between the Sevens Development camp by day and Uni training at night!! Match...

    Sydney University Football Club

In the preseason, Head Coach Malone stated the primary objective for SUFC in 2015 was to retain the Club Championship. At the half way point of the season, Randwick 1467 and Eastwood 1383 lead SUFC with 1249. The Grade teams have a game in hand due to the washout of the Gordon fixture which...

    Sydney Colts - 2015

Uni vs Randwick 1st colts 24-22. Epic battle Randwick won 2nd and 3rd colts , with bigger margins( don't have exact scores)

    Sydney Colts - 2015

Uni won 1st colts 28-27 2nd colts went to Uni by significant margin 3rd Colts was a great win to Gordon . Can't give you scores- that's what happens when you rely on a student to take notes!!

HSBC Sevens World Series 2014/14 - Round 5 - Las Vegas

While I agree with Brumby Runner , I suspect the kicking from restarts would be a coach initiated tactic. As for Stannard, I can't believe he is still in the squad. There is a National sevens championship in early March where hopefully a potential successor will emerge.

2015 IRB Junior Rugby World Cup - Italy

Terrific to hear Christian is doing well, hope he makes the final cut. Interesting to note Christian didn't come through the NSW schoolboy teams. Just shows there are talented players who are missed by selectors but flourish when given a chance in a good program. Considering he only carries 1...

2015 IRB Junior Rugby World Cup - Italy

(By the way, how the heck did Harry Jones miss out on Under 20s last year? He was a standout at the National Championships at Riverview last year) I'm sure he was, playing behind a very dominant NSW forward pack. If there was a hard luck story from last year's Aussie U 20 team, it had to be...

    Sydney Colts - 2014

Ok. I looked on the website and the fresh reserve for UNI 1st colts last week was included in the team points but this may have been a Uni mistake. If this is correct then Uni can play Angus Pulver ( 9 points) off the bench without breaching the rules?

    Sydney Colts - 2014

Can someone clarify how the player points for fresh reserves will work on the weekend. Uni 2nd colts play on Sunday so if they reserve for Uni 1st colts on Saturday , will they count as fresh reserves? It should be the same as always for Norths as both the colts side play on Saturday.

    Sydney Colts - 2014

Big game at Bon Andrews oval between Norths and Souths Both clubs well performed in all grades with Norths 2nd and Souths 3rd on the Colts club Championships. Norths are the form team in Colts with Randwick and Souths the next best I think the winners of this years 1st colts will come from...

    ACTJRU U18 & ACT Schools XV 2014

Fantastic to see Wests lift to challenge St Edmunds. How many lads from Wests are in the ACT squad ???

    ACTJRU U18 & ACT Schools XV 2014

Most certainly if last week's game is an indication. Marist didnt capitalise on their early dominance by mounting points . SEC don't appear this year to have a dominating prop who can just barge through at will so it may be more a contest of rugby skills than brute force. Two teams with...

    ACTJRU U18 & ACT Schools XV 2014

Agree. Siuta and to a lesser degree Oswald are the only shining lights in the Marist forward pack. Marist were well beaten in the forwards against Grammar as well. The most dangerous back on the field was the Marist left winger who created a lot of grief for Eddies. He needs to get the ball a...

    ACTJRU U18 & ACT Schools XV 2014

If this is true, then no doubt some "illegible" certificates will materialise this week. Can we please have some clarification from the President of the ACT Schoolboys Rugby Association regarding the eligibility of the St Edmunds team for ACT selection . I doubt anyone wants to see young lads...

    Sydney Colts - 2014

Now my son is no Maths genius but he reckons St Andrews won by a point . According to St Andrews, their side was depleted by injury! Jim Stewart and Henry Clunies-Ross were out but still plenty of capable players available. Perhaps the scorer was drunk so we may have a disputed result in the...

    Sydney Colts - 2014

Alex Northam is a terrific player .First saw him playing in the Scots Sevens tournament where both he and Matthew Narracott wore GPS devices to monitor their top speed and distance covered. Matthew is significantly quicker however rugby is not just about your top speed but how and when you use...

    Sydney Colts - 2014

Folau played but Matthew Sandell moved up to 2nd grade to cover the loss of Tom Robertson who was on U20 duties. So there was considerable disruption to the Uni front row but give credit to the Norths scrum - it was a match winner.

    Sydney Colts - 2014

The Uni winger was Matthew Narracott who was returning from injury for his first game of the season . By rugby standards he is extremely quick but sadly only half as tall as UB. He was a bit rusty yesterday but will benefit from match play. As for Norths, weren't they fantastic. Keen contests...
