2015 IRB Junior Rugby World Cup - Italy

In addition, who did the development work with these kids. I wouldn't count playing a state champs or 2 for a zone as much development considering it is about 5 weeks of the year if that. For me, the ability to pull together the program and keep big playing groups together is a massive...

The impending Hooper vs Pocock Dilemma

That squad would allow for 4 genuine locks plus a jones type lock/backrow cover, as well as one of higgers or McCalman in the backrow.

The impending Hooper vs Pocock Dilemma

    My Bad, double counted one of the 3's. So locks goes up to 5, backrow to 5 and probably props up 1, that takes the above to 30. Props - 5 Hookers - 3 Locks - 5 Backrow - 5 Half - 2 Flyahlf - 2 Centre - 3 Wing - 3 Fullback - 2

The impending Hooper vs Pocock Dilemma

So make lock 5 and backrow 5, reduce fullback by 1 and centre by 1? The above split is 18/12 forwards/backs. The suggested move makes it 20/10. Big difference there

The impending Hooper vs Pocock Dilemma

Is the above based on an assumption of Props - 4 Hookers - 3 Locks - 4 Backrow - 4 Half - 2 Flyahlf - 2 Centre - 3 Wing - 3 Fullback - 2 If so, you could build cover in the backrow by taking Jones as lock cover alongside Carter, Simmons and likely Horwill. Makes it tough for the likes of...

The impending Hooper vs Pocock Dilemma

I think if both fit they will be there for sure, but in the absence of Fardy and potentially Higgonbottom, what are our other options at 6. I don't think McMahon is the answer YET, it seems it could make some sense to go down that road if the situation arises?

The impending Hooper vs Pocock Dilemma

Is there any huge objection out there to a hooper 7, pocock 6 set up? Aside from the loss of what Fardy brings, is there an argument to have both on at the same time. One seems to be a brilliant attacking player, the other brilliant defensively? Is there any major workload lost by playing Pocock...

The impending Hooper vs Pocock Dilemma

A disclaimer to the above, i think Hooper and Pocock (old pocock) are such a class above, we will need one if not both firing to have any chance at the RWC, don't think any of our other prospective 7's are at that level, or to be honest anywhere near that level of impact on a game.

The impending Hooper vs Pocock Dilemma

McMahon isn't a 7 for me, he is a long term 6 i think and Butler just doesn't do it for me. He is solid without being great. I think Gill has more class moments than butler.

I think you may well be right on that front, and it certainly bodes well for the Wicks they had so many in the mix in the first place.

The impending Hooper vs Pocock Dilemma

Behind Hooper & Pocock, i still think Gill is up there. I think Hodgson had a blinder of a year. Would want to see that replicated before i went banking on him for another year. Would have Gill in a dogfight with Hodgson for the 3 spot. Think he is ahead of Fuglistaler and Colby as a 7.

    Ideas for NRC 2015

Does anyone know when to expect some news on the 2015 season such as draws, playing rosters, etc. I would think that these things would want to be well and truly rolling forward. @LG, @HJ, other mods, have you heard any whispers through the trenches? Seems about time to get the 2015 thread...

Reds v Waratahs, round 4, Saturday 7 March

Anyone aware of any injuries being carried by any of the Tahs main squad from the Rebels game that may impact selections heading north of the border, or is it just expected to be a Palu in, Hoiles to Bench, Cutch out - rest stays the same type scenario?

The impending Hooper vs Pocock Dilemma

Is BDA's sister interested in the rugby?

This is the most constructive thing anyone has posted on this issue! And still we are no closer to a solution!

2015 IRB Junior Rugby World Cup - Italy

Good thing we have people like you here to correct me. I was doing my best to jot down names of players and must have slipped through a few and not got them right! Unlucky for Anderson, and good news for Craig. Just looking through the list before, seems to be a big lot of the randwick...

2015 IRB Junior Rugby World Cup - Italy

Ok had some time over to look over this thread and found this list posted by the oracle himself LG: Hookers: Ed Craig, Nick Koutsakis, Folau Fainga’a. Props: Francis Brown, Vuni Fifita, Cameron Orr, Matt Gibbon, Matt Sandell. Locks: Lachie Cannell, Nick Kellaway, Harrison Williams, Lukhan...

2015 IRB Junior Rugby World Cup - Italy

Saw the team play a few times in the trials before Gen Blue Games, from my understanding and names passed on by a few people, Rudolph, Abrahams, Anderson and Craig were all let go/left a while back and haven't played the last few trials or been a part of team rehab. Could change things a bit!!

    Waratahs 2015

Its ok Pfitzy, your time will come! They can only ignore you for so long. Onto more pressing matters, Gen Blue games this weekend? is there a team list out? Times? Anything else. With no top teams, i'm not all that interested in the other aussie teams, much rather watch generation next have a run!

    Ideas for NRC 2015

One would hope so MHCS, however don't hold your breath. The NRC, as a pathway has shown in the early Super 15 rounds that it can help build the Force and Rebels into serious contenders, and is a berthing ground for talent, so they need to make this comp a success. I don't know how high on the...
