I find that very hard to believe. Given the option of remaining in a potential championship 2nd XV or being elevated to a bottom of the table 1st XV I'd not hesitate to play firsts and doubt many would. Would you? Every kid at Joeys dreams of playing firsts. To be able to say, 'I played in...

Not so sure about 'easily'. Looks like there's not much between them and Joeys. Each had big wins over View, comfortable wins over New, narrow wins against King's, while Scots beat Shore more comfortably than Joeys did. In the match between them at Hunter's Hill, Scots won by a point after...

No worries, entirely as you wish of course. Just tends to set off my OCD! <eye twitches involuntarily>

Hi Chairman, thanks for the tables. If you click on top of the columns and select 'sort descending' it will put them in order from highest to lowest.

I doubt anyone thinks a top 13As means a top Ist XV four years later. Lotta development between 13s & opens, plus kids arriving in yrs 8,9,10 etc., as well as some playing 1s in yrs 10 & 11 and a few backing up for a second crack at yr 12. 15 & 16As a slightly better indicator but even plenty...

First 2nd half try took an age by comparison. Almost 3 minutes.

10.3 seconds from opening whistle to touchdown.

Grammar's unbeaten run in 3rd Grade comp ends, upset 5-12 by Shore at Rushcutters Bay. Shore were previously one win from 3.

Reasonable question. Perhaps the policy was/is they don't allow their own to repeat yr12 but allow some to repeat from other schools.

That was Denis Facer. He was handy but it's something of an exaggeration to say he 'significantly helped them' given the overall strength of the side, nine of whom were selected for GPS 1s and all fifteen made GPS teams. Facer didn't make the NSW squad. The other winger, Gerry O'Hearn, went on...

Joeys 9 has some great skills but a tendency to overplay his hand: needless little chips in behind or cross-field to give away possession when in good attacking position. Panicky off-load in last 5 mins to give up TKS intercept try when he should've gone to ground. Joeys had tonnes of ball...

Can you point out where anyone has lost their minds because the clock stopped with a minute to go? And in the next breath you whinge about the ref? Seriously?

What confused me was he pointed directly at the No.8, who wasn't the ball carrier.

Must be getting old & daft but I still can't work out the signal - both arms horizontal across the chest at an angle (anyone?) - then pointing at the number 8 who cleaned out. Not a side entry call, possibly an obstruction call but my best guess was for a high shot on the tackler. I was watching...

Interesting call to take the tap. He asked Sir how much time was left at the Joeys lineout and again at the Joeys penalty half a dozen phases later. Presumably more than enough to just tap & kick out. Maybe he backed their ability to pick & go for a few phases more than their lineout. They...

Total domination of territory & possession. Must be north of 75% for both. Scots lucky not to be further behind, though they did lose a man to the bin. Sharples has been excellent.

That doesn't seem to bear out in rugby, though. There are no other schools with a strangely low number of top grade titles compared to 2nd grade successes. If it IS the case that Shore have stacked their 2nd XVs at the expense of their 1sts, they appear to be the only school doing it.

The standout numbers there are in the 2nd XV column for Joeys and Shore. They're the only two schools to win more 2nd XV than 1st XV titles but those 2s numbers tell opposite stories. Joeys' obvious strength in depth, with 2.5x more 2s titles than anyone else, underpins their 1st XV...
