    Wallabies 2020

Seems like people have been talking him up in a few recent games where he hasn’t actually played that well. I can’t recall exactly which games but at the start of the year he was in some better form. Agree that he really needs to lift his involvements but I think he has an edge over the other...

    Wallabies 2020

I'm going to put my neck out there and say he he has got to be up there with our best carriers into heavy contact, it just doesn't happen very often. He seems to hit like a truck, what ever he is doing. Really tough to pick the optimal backrow, it could go any number of ways.

    Wallabies 2020

I love Valetini's involvements, he can really hit and dominate in carries, tackles and cleanouts. Having watched him a bit though, he really needs to be more involved. He could be a seriously dominant player. This is a bad example because I know Wilson must have played more minutes than him, but...

    Wallabies 2020

Valetini is poor in the air, as well as not being particularly tall and the other two are very short. Height's not everything but they aren't going to cut it as main lineout options. LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) is hardly dominant in the lineout either, assuming he is one 2nd row, though he has his moments. Edit: To...

Lineout could be pretty weak with that combination. I would definitely target it if I was the opposition coach. I like all those players but I'm not sure how they will work together. Tonne of overlap with Hooper and Samu.

    Wallabies 2020

I don't think anyone has done enough to knock Hooper out of the team but who knows. However I do think he had a pretty big form slump at the start of the year, there were points there where he looked completely disinterested, as did a lot of the tahs. Seems to have turned it around now though...

Super Rugby AU - Semi Final - Reds v Reb

It probably comes off a bit critical, of Wright especially. However it was just one half of one game, where his team wasn’t performing well. Not a fair assessment of him as a player. As Adam pointed out, he had at least 2 good contributions in the 2nd half and likely a lot more. I feel it did...

Super Rugby AU - Semi Final - Reds v Reb

Out of curiosity I went back and watched the first half and wrote down both 6’s involvements. This isn’t for the sake of arguing either, I just honestly feel there are a lot of misconceptions around players and if I’m going to disagree with the consensus then I should back it up, rightly or...

Super Rugby AU - Semi Final - Reds v Reb

I guess we will have to disagree. I'd have picked Wright ahead of the other two for the Wallabies as well, in either position, just thought last night they probably got up on him. I'd have to watch them all again specifically, just my initial take. So I don't think Wilkin is better at either...

Super Rugby AU - Semi Final - Reds v Reb

May have been a bit much saying Hardwick outplayed him but I think Wilkin definitely did. Hate to parrot the commentators, especially Kearns but Wilkin's work in the lead up to the try was very good and I thought he had more impact in contact and pressured the ruck well. Like I said, I don't...

Super Rugby AU - Semi Final - Reds v Reb

I stand corrected on the pilfers. I will stand by what I said in regards to the defence though, dominant would be dominating the contact consistently. He is reliable in that he makes a lot and doesn’t miss many. That article was for a very exceptional defensive performance and also didn’t give...

Super Rugby AU - Semi Final - Reds v Reb

I’m a bit torn, it’s hard to point out flaws without coming across too critical, so take this with a grain of salt. I do think he is a good player but he just doesn’t quite make the cut physically for me. He is reliable in defence without being dominant. I’d disagree with the link player too, I...

Super Rugby AU - Semi Final - Reds v Reb

Just some quick thoughts after the game. - Rebels looked much more up for the game and Reds pretty off. I’m slightly confused how To'omua gets so much praise from the commentators and public. Early on the Rebels were making meters at ease, hot on attack, he kicks away the ball twice, then throws...

    Wallabies 2020

Hooker and 12 as mentioned. None of the hookers are in form and all are throwing pretty poorly. I'd say it's currently our weakest position. I can't find the exact stats but LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) has 21 caps and Arnold either 19 or 26 - I think 26 more likely - either way there is not much difference there...

    Wallabies 2020

I think there is a lot of potential for the 12's coming through but there is no one available that has dominated as much as Kerevi as it stands. Even if it is only in carrying, which is a fairly handy trick for a 12 by the way. Would be happy to see Simone given a chance though. I assume you...

    Wallabies 2020

Long time lurker, first post here. Hello everyone! I feel like I might be in the minority here but I really struggle to see the point of an O'connor/To'omua 10/12 combo. Maybe they are being viewed as the "safe" option but possibly that's the perceived comfort of familiarity rather than an...
