Have to say I was at the game and went home at the point the uncontested was called. For me as a traditionalist and someone who thoroughly enjoys watching the scrum contest I was disgusted by the call. I am still struggling having watched it back on youtube as to whether GPS were as amazing as...

Can't agree its tricky. Everyone who's played knows its a choice to lift. Truth is there is no benefit to a lift tackle as it give the opposition more chance to get to the tackled player in support. For me its an ego thing! Anyway I thoroughly enjoyed the game. The boys played real well.

Gees Jake McI gets a tough going over on here. I watched him the other week as the Brethren got a thumping at Sunnybank and apart from an early mistake he ran the game and stood out. Is it possibly that the Reds coaching team have something to do with the drop in his ability, the way he...

    2017 Under-20 Competitions including Oceania & World U20s

I think the game is set up nicely this week Aussie front 3 of Holmes/ Walker, Uelese's and Vui if fit look like they can push the English around who have been beated in the scrum by both the Samoan's and Welsh. Lineout is strong - hocking offers very little around the park but runs a good...

I agree, the L Tui selection reeks of locking him into national selection so he can't go play for another nation. Not that I don't believe he doesn't have the potential, he in my opinion (which counts for nothing) is just not ready and arguably the better long term prospect is Rodda.

You would have to be related to suggest that Bligh is a keeper! Tall yes, heavy set yes, Super rugby player No. I think he would be at the end of a very long line of potential, also Lock talent is truly covered with Rodda and Tui, experience from either Simmons or Douglas with additional...

As I stretched across four seats last night barely in hearing distance of another soul sipping on some of the worlds most expensive "disco piss" out of a plastic cup. I asked myself am I enjoying this - do I want to continue to spend, and lets be honest its not cheap, another $100+ on this...

Agree. Forget the personalities involved, it just makes sense. Dominant schoolboy players can be dominant because they matured early, they are a year older than their peers or simply because they are in a better coached program. Too many kids get soaked up into the Super program without playing...

Gill is great and I although I understand the reason he went, he like Smith now was a point of difference in the Reds constant recruitment of the same shaped player in the backrow in recent times. Whats the point of difference between each of them? Same shapes, similar players in terms of...

I just hope there are no more Rugby League converts the transition period is too long and when you analyse the cost v return over picking up a good Prem player am not sure it works out. Most of the league converts have been in a 24/7 program benefiting from all the trimmings of being a pro...

Here's my stab from the games i have watched live and streamed. UQ as the table shows are the outstanding team in the comp and dominate my selections. I struggled at 3 and 12 most. Tried to pick players on what I have seen and not be drawn in by past seasons performance or reputations. Even...

Unfortunately the gap is big in terms of preparation, funding and player pool. Kiwi's had about the same time together in preparation and looked good (as you'd expect) Recent history tells you the NH teams, SA and NZ will all be well drilled, huge in size and battle ready. If the whole extent...

Congrats to all the boys selected. The individual skills have little to do with Cron he's a coach not a magician. Most of these forwards will be the backbone of the WC campaign, most of the backs won't be. Add Forwards Hoopert, Vui, Girdler and Tuimalima and Backs McNamara, Stewart, Maddocks...

But isn't that an expected basic skill at this level @thebreakdown? We are not talking throwing 10m reverse flicks! Just simple catch and pass under pressure. Something most all of these young men will have been dealing with for many years. Do you think tomorrow night the Kiwi's will bring any...

I I've watched the game a number of times and can't agree with you - Cron got it right for me, set piece and ball handling killed the game. I also feel that certain players are being "promoted" without due cause (Probably by the state union) The Back row is a real area of concern for me-...

Unless your little solider has been running around in the U20's as a LHP and didn't get selected? But on a serious note it is a great story, a lifeline for all of those players who missed a cut because of XY or Z. Not sure to the relevance of cauliflower ears to the story, its like saying I get...

Tough call on Thor - his school boy video accelerated expectation way past where it should be. But between 25-30 i envisage he'll be a gun in a position it is difficult to find someone worth having. I'd love for the Reds to adopt an even greater youth policy - get rid of Moore, Douglas...

What was more worrying Scrubber was when he did get through how quickly he was reeled in. When a player who uses pace loses it they ultimately lose more than just speed. When was the last time anyone saw Quade roast someone with a step?
