    QLD Premier Rugby 2017

Agree, if a club is able to help out players with something to offset their expenses it can go along away. Players possibly do not ask their existing clubs but who can blame a player if they are offered an incentive elsewhere or a club for offering? I know all the clubbies will think that this...

More bad news for the Doggies...Joel Brown, who like Tyrone Lefau is Gold Coast based, will not be returning to the kennel..

    QLD Premier Rugby 2017

Money aside I think Tyrone may have jumped ship too soon. After Pat Byron was left to coach the side on his own last year, the Doggies have put together an impressive coaching team and dare I say it, on paper it looks like the best in the comp. Hopefully this will give Pat more time to tweak...

They have been sleeping at the wheel for far too long. The clubrooms seem to have consumed the committee. The committee is accepting all of the praise being afforded them for the design and construction of the 'Taj Mahal' however there are very few willing to stand up and accept responsibility...

I see that Tonga Maafu has returned to the Nest for 2017. Any other player movements that people are aware of?

    Reds 2017

I'm guessing it's because it IS the NRC. Why would he risk injury to play in a competition substantially below his level and to prove what? He is being paid to play in the big leagues of the UK's Premiership and Super rugby.

    NRC onwards and upwards

I actually wouldn't change too much of the NRC how it is now. If you are looking for parochial fans similar to the Shute Shield then there will need be a clear separation between Super Rugby Clubs and NRC clubs although that would add to the cost of the competition because of the extra...

Qld Country - official NRC thread

True but the Country reserve hooker did not look exactly fit. He came on early in the second half and I saw him miss 2 tackles that resulted in tries just because he couldn't move quick enough.

    NRC onwards and upwards

One of the problems with Rugby is that it is being run out of Sydney and now there is a suggestion to have the National Rugby Championship the NSW Rugby Championship? There are far too many fiefdoms in Rugby as it is.

As feared and if true this is a huge step backwards.

If nothing changes at Wests then the 2 wins from this year may be difficult to repeat in 2017! I have heard whispers that Evan Willis may make a return as Forwards coach. Not sure on his pedigree however he coached with Pat in 2014/15 when Wests won 4 games and then 3 games respectively. Based...

Any more news on the coaching moves at Wests Jamie8?

    QLD Premier Rugby 2016

If Wests are to be taken seriously again as a Premier club there needs to be change. Agreed that the blame can not be all heaped on the coach. Why was Pat left to coach on his own? Is there a lack of real rugby experience at board level? As head coach should Pat have stepped up and fought harder...

Hopefully common sense prevails at the Kennel and this is Byron's last game as coach. He will be completing his fourth season as coach and has achieved zip other than overseeing a steady decline down the ladder and being unable to attract any quality coaches to work with him. What will he be...

Happyman - Are you possibly a nervous Board member from a 'non paying' Premier club?;)

    QLD Premier Rugby 2016

Wow, this will have players looking sideways at their team mates! The general line put out there is clubs are NOT allowed to provide any benefit or payments to players as it will affect their ARU/QRU funding. I guess not.

To be fair to Phil Mooney I'm not sure he can be described as the backs coach. On the Bulldogs website his title is 'coaching consultant'. That sort of fits as I am told he is not always at training and does not attend all games, for instance he was not there on Saturday. If the coaching...

This will be my last say on the matter, promise. I have watched the Doggies over many years and it has been sad to watch the gradual decline and lack of effort not from the boys but the coaching staff. I agree the forwards are doing well - how much better would they be if they spent more than 30...

Honestly, if Logan could provide the appropriate Coaching and player support staff that the doggies are obviously lacking combined with the new facilities at The Kennel then it should be explored.

    QLD Premier Rugby 2016

So Wests let their forwards coach go thinking they had a replacement who then decided that he wasn't going to take up the position? That's why Wests have no forwards coach? Coaching is the problem as what forward would move to Wests if they do not have a forwards coach? Who has Pat Byron...
