Reds v Bulls, Rnd 7 2020 Suncorp Stadium 6:15pm AEST

I thought what Thorn said about Rodda was pretty astute, I'd say it's more likely coming from S&C rather than Thorn himself and if that's the case -- that Thorn is taking advice from his S&C team then that's excellent, exactly what you want to see from your head coach. I think it makes sense...

It's a bit of an odd backline, but I think Hegarty will go fine at 14, most of our tries haven't been coming off the back of amazing finishing but rather built pressure and line-breaks with backing up so going without an out and out speedster is probably okay in this instance. We are basically...

Stewart has kicked well in the NRC and Dugunu has shown the ability to bend them from out wide. But honestly I think we keep running without a kicker. We are leading the comp in tries, our attack is as good as any in Super Rugby, our defense is very good too. Trust in the process. Even Reg had...

I guess those calling for Hegarty were wrong though, kicking wasn't the margin, let along second half kicking. We had pretty close to our best attacking side on the field and we weren't close enough that kicking mattered. IMO I'd rather we develop our players than win a game on the back of...

I'm not entirely sure they'll bring Hegarty straght into the 10 spot, but it's probably an 80 odd percent decision at this time. In order of crazyness (lest to most) some of the alterantives are: They Might run with Lucas again, he has hardly looked out of his depth at 10, just O'Connor was...

Some could argue the Sunwolves ought to be paying the QRU given they are providing facilities etc. But regardless I think it'll make a massive difference to the crowed, the Crusaders are one of the most popular Super Rugby teams in Brisbane. The last time I remember a Brisbane Crusaders game...

It's not a fair comparison to suggest the NBA is even remotely close to the physical toll a game of Rugby takes on a body. If nothing else an NBA game goes for around 48 minuets, and has free substitutions, a typical NBA player doesn't play more than 20 to 30 min a game. The physical toll on the...

Well the Reds vs Bulls is now apparently getting the Sunwolves vs Crusaders as a double header, so that'll probably be our high water mark for the season, I'd expect that to pull 20k maybe 25k. This game I'd think should be close to 15k.

I think with O'Connor and Stewart at 10/12 we should be able to control or at least pressure Bosch, Esterhuizen and Am and prevent them form getting clean ball out wider. Not sure how the packs will go, how has the Sharks scrum looked?

Mapimpi is a big out for the Sharks but Lukhanyo Am coming back in probably equals that out.

Oh, yeah I agree Tuttle wouldn't be in over McDermott, but hell of a player to bring in to close out a close game.

I'm okay with us losing the game on the basis of kicking (I hope the Reds are). Campbell, Daugunu, Stewart and O'Connor are all quality goal kickers - they should all be kicking around 70%. I don't think there will be too much difference between any of them. But keep in mind Campbell didn't...

    Hometown Refs

I'd tend to agree that anything less than a full season is probably not enough data to really draw conclusions from. My own personal research has suggested the bias is still there in 2019. My data gives a 5.5 penalty advantage to SA teams under SA refs, while Australians get a 2.5 penalty...

Foley or Hegarty have their place, but if they aren't kicking their goals they can't be selected. Hegarty has been kicking his goals and that might prove the difference. I also love the selection of LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) coming off the bench. I don't mind the lock/backrow rotation. I suspect/expect ASY (Angus Scott-Young) is going...

    Wallabies 2020

Yeah, I agree the almost glut of young talented wingers playing well ought to push the likes of DHP, and Hodge out of the wing spots. Almost makes you wonder why we only had 1 genuine winger in our World Cup Squad...

I'm a little surprised we aren't seeing Hegarty brought back. I guess the Reds think they are outright better than the Sharks, or the Brumbies are better than us. We lose this game and I think we'll lose touch with the Brumbies. A lot of kickers in the side, but no one is quite the sharp...

@Adam84 I do agree, Campbell has been very good for us, but he's a 60% goal kicker at best... Hegarty on the other hand is a 90% kicker... And CFS will be really important to our defense. But that's a decision that coaching will have to make. A: Attack (Campbell) B: Goals (Hegarty) C: Defense...

    Wallabies 2020

I'd agree Hodge is probably on the out. Maybe he's a squad inclusion to cover the centers. But IMO TK and Hunter are above him for the 13 position, and we have a heap of guys able to play 12, at this stage I'd say 12's down to even Stewart is playing better than Hodge at the moment (in...
