You're right, forgot about them as well. Other teams have had some good talent available to them as well - Sorovi and Gordon's for Wests, Kuridrani for GPS are a few I can think of. The young guys will benefit from the season even if it's not successful.

Ben Mowen retired, the key frontrowers picked up Super Rugby contracts, Seru Uru has been a big part of the Reds squad this season, so with that you are losing a lot of grunt and last year their scrum and lineout worked really well.

Agreed, some of the other losses have been fairly close but that one v Brothers really blew out. That Brothers try straight after Easts had taken the lead at 12-10 I think when one of the backs ran through half the Easts side seemingly untouched to score was like junior rugby. Can't see Easts...

    Rebels 2021

Stiles was a very good forwards coach I thought when he was with Brisbane City and Reds. Getting the right person who he can work with would be key - didn't feel he had too much say in that with the Reds.

Who would you target as a replacement for Wessels? Any Oz coaches currently overseas or QPR/SS coaches you would like to look at?

Hunt was great for Easts, a good pick up for Brothers. Blaise Barnes I wasn't familiar with but seems to have come from Randwick after being a schoolboy star, signing to Parramatta Eels and then having an injury riddled couple of years in the NRL and back to rugby in Sydney. Any idea why he...

14-13 to Easts - penalty right in front in extra time. Very tight 2nd half, I thought Gordon had it, Easts kicked away possession a few times but finally just picked and drove until right in front of the line there was an infringement. Exciting finish.

Be careful - he might ask at half time to be released from the game :)

Anyone else lose the live on Stan footage all of a sudden and have prematch footage with no sound?

Same here, worse during the Force v Brumbies game - picture froze mid match and commentary reverted to the start of the game so was quite odd.

Hadn't heard that, really short sighted if it is accurate. Lots of clubs last year didn't have juniors returning after COVID shutdown so they should be actively trying to get them back this year although training and playing space can be limited due to health restrictions. Across all sports I...

Great work by Easts to beat Bond and advance to the finals - thankful they had the 2nd chance. Should be a good final but UQ will be very hard to beat.

No, Rennie was Chiefs coach when McKenzie joined them at 19 https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/rugby/67582901/chiefs-coach-dave-rennie-challenges-young-star-damian-mckenzie-to-stay-grounded

I don't think Rennie is focused on size - he used to select Aaron Cruden and Damian McKenzie for the Chiefs, neither of whom are big men.

    Western Force 2020

Force are looking good, having a lot of new players coming in probably makes things a bit difficult but at the same time guys like Lance and Holmes bring a lot of experience. I was impressed how well they started the game against the Reds, just couldn't last the whole game - I thought that the...

Super Rugby AU Round 2 - Reds vs Rebels

To'omua is not a 10. He is a good straight runner and good defender. At this level you need more than that for a 10. JOC (James O'Connor) is similar - better suited to 12 both of them. Reds don't have a decent 10 in their game day squads, maybe have to look at younger talent. Can't see any of the backs...

2020 Super Rugby Round 1 (REDUX): Reds v Waratahs

That Tahs winger Ramm looked good - never heard of him before. I was impressed by the Tahs backs especially given their inexperience. Tupou and discipline - wasn't Thorn and his 'tough stance' meant to sort that out. It seems like he is the big bully player whose infringements are overlooked...

Just seems odd that they wouldn't have just said 'released so that he can take up an opportunity overseas' rather than try to present it as some family issue.

How is that close to his family?

    Reds 2020

Is it just me, or do you think that if someone gets so upset about not being picked as captain that they want to pack their bat and ball then they're demonstrating that they are maybe not captaincy material? Surely he can't have that sense of entitlement?
