Declining participation and ARU plans for the future

ARU have passed the buck on this to NSWRU. I think you will find both SJRU and NSWRU support the concept of an U18's comp on a Saturday run at District level. SRU Board also on board and are presenting this same concept to the Shute Shield clubs for their support. The idea of actually...

Some are.. but other have left school at either yr 12 or earlier.. These are all club rugby players.. Their pathway stops at NSWJRU U18's (unless still at school and have dual pathways).

It either says a lot a lot for Randwick's depth or for the points system that you have 3 players from the 2016 Nationals in 3rds and another 3 in 2nds. Or both.

Maybe he was waiting to see which team went better in the trial? Or the surprise return of Dewet Roos in grade sealed his decision?

I understand that point - and that is why I am told 40 or 50 lads walked away last year. But on the flip side - how can rugby be happy with 40 or 50 lads leaving the game? It is not as though we are exactly flying with participation numbers. The less numbers at the base of the pyramid means less...

    Sydney Colts - 2017

Fairly sure Southern only played 1st & 2nd grade due to the shortened games, leaving their large 3rd grade squad with the day off. Norths brought entire colts group. 1st game was close, Southern by 1 try. 2nd game was similar until Southerns 1st grade came on halfway thru and put on 3 quick...

    Sydney Colts - 2017

Serhon and Harrison fixed - i don't profess to know how the discounts or NSW U20's stuff works. 1st Colts - 40 point Cap 1. Dan Matthews (Central Coast jnr), Aust Barb / NSW II = 6 pts 2. Blake Schoupp (Illawarra jnr), Qld I = 4 pts 3. Harrison N Chapman, NSW U20's = 5 pts 4. Dylan Pietsch...

    Sydney Colts - 2017

If i understand the point system correctly it is 6 points for an Aust school / Aust Barbarian from 2016 5 points for a current NSW U20's 4 points for a NSW I, NSW II or Combined States player from 2016 2 points for a new player to club 50% discount for a local junior or returning player from...

    Sydney Colts - 2017

I think more so will be the challenge to get these guys onto the park at the same time and keep under 40 points. Take Randwick (and am happy to be corrected) with no reduction for playing juniors in the Randwick district. Pietsch (Gordon jnr) @ 6 pts, Wilkinson (Cowra jnr) @ 6 pt...

    Sydney Colts - 2017

Hard not to have Randwick as favourites for colts 1sts.. from what i have heard their depth will see a number of 2016 NSW I, NSW II and Combined States players in second grade colts at best. Huge competition for spots. Some of the names being tossed around - I am sure there are more from 2015...

    Sydney Colts - 2017

The UK season is already halfway over - so they would have different cut off date for sure. Fairly sure CJF is a late Oct/ early Nov DOB, so he would most likely fit in easily. Have heard of another Gappie whom has also slipped into an U18's program at a club as well.

ARU Junior Gold Cup - National Junior Championships

NSW will have 2 metro teams and 1 country team. A bit different to the original JGC that had 4 metro and at least 5 country teams.
