    Argentina v Australia, Mendoza 4/10/14

Perhaps, but all it says is that we aren't much chop at the moment irrespective of who the coach is.

    Argentina v Australia, Mendoza 4/10/14

Perhaps not, but it's not going to end up on the highlights reel either is it?

    Argentina v Australia, Mendoza 4/10/14

Exactly. The possession stats in the first half alone tell you how poor we were. Link has this idea that we have to play attractive rugby. Sure, but that's not what he's doing with the team. The play WAY too lateral, have no discipline at the break down and also no cohesion there.

    Argentina v Australia, Mendoza 4/10/14

Well that was painful... I honestly can't believe the three yellow cards - just completely ridiculous from Owens and we didn't deserve to play with 14 men for 30 minutes. All the same, we can't really blame the ref because we got completely owned in the forwards and our attack just looked...

    Cheerio Deans

To my mind the comments about the senior players being mostly concerned with their "cab charge" - guys who are on hundreds of thousands a year - after the Lions series kind tells you how much dedication there is toward the Wallabies jumper these days.

Kiap, Like Train, you're completely missing the point. All my responses to this are in response to the notion that McKenzie is some how being treated unfairly because people are comparing him to his predecessor. For the record, I also state Deans failed to live up to all the hype, but the...

Again, you're just not dealing at all with the fact that the media and McKenzie helped feed the notion that it was Robbie's Kiwi origins that were holding us back from beating the All Blacks and playing better rugby. Part of it was media, but it was fed by McKenzie dog whistling that tune...

The point is Train, that you raised Connolly as a comparison and made the point people didn't compare Deans to him. I simply explained that there are very good reasons for that, none of which you have addressed. A lot of this is on the media and McKenzie in my view and has nothing to do with Deans.

So you're responding only to the first 8 words of my post only then? That's kinda missing the point...

Add Fiji to that and it's 6/9... but whatever. Deans also won a Tri Nations trophy and holds the longest ever winning streak for an Australian team against the Springboks (5 in a row - including 2 hoodoo breaking wins in South Africa itself). Connolly wasn't in charge very long, so it's hard...

A record helped by the fact that the Wallabies played in a world cup pool that included Fiji, Canada, Japan and a Wales side that was so disappointing it couldn't beat Fiji to make second in that pool... I reckon the book should make very interesting reading. I've read excerpts and those...

    Australia v South Africa - Perth - 6 September 2014

The backline definitely does look a better one, but I still have serious doubts about the forwards... lock and hooker in particular just aren't where they need to be. Simmons and Carter seemed ineffectively against the All Blacks, and even Hooper didn't feel combative enough for that level of...

    New Zealand v Australia - Auckland - 23 August 2014

Whilst I love AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper), I have to say, I thought we looked when Kurindrani ran out... Just seemed to inject some much needed power and looked to make metres pretty quickly. What's the story with Cooper and Genia's injuries? The team really looked underdone last night and I have to say it made me...

    New Zealand v Australia - Auckland - 23 August 2014

I definitely agree with that. I still think the inexperienced nature of the pack hurt us, but if we're ever going to win at a cauldron like Eden park, our boys need not only to be trained well and have a good tactical and defence prep, but also need to play like their lives depended on it. As...

    New Zealand v Australia - Auckland - 23 August 2014

Fair call, and the Kiwis are generally more competitive these days. But all the same, their relationship with the Kangaroos is almost a mirror image of the Wallabies relationship to the All Blacks. In fact that game last night reminded me an awful lot of last years RLWC Final; like the...

    New Zealand v Australia - Auckland - 23 August 2014

To a certain extent, but you could say the same for the Kiwis and the Poms when they play the Kangaroos. At the end of the day the All Blacks do have a bigger pool of quality professional players and get the best pick of the country's athletes. Apart from SBW I can't think of anyone in the...

    New Zealand v Australia - Auckland - 23 August 2014

I actually don't think we do have the cattle at the moment... I mean we're on our 4th choice hooker, our locks aren't at international level and are really only there because better players are heading overseass. Meanwhile the incumbent halves of last year were both injured, we played two...

    New Zealand v Australia - Auckland - 23 August 2014

It’s funny when you watch games when you’re team gets blown off the park like that. I almost don’t feel bad; we were just never in it, so the prevailing sensation is a sort of cold detachment. When my favourite teams (Wallabies, Tahs – Roosters, Blues, Roos) lose in tight, big games, I feel...

Wonder how the game rated? I was reading in the financial review how in the last few years it's failed to crack the 1 million mark, even dropping to less than half that in some years... that's a bit of a worry when Origin gets 4 million regularly.

    New Zealand v Australia - Auckland - 23 August 2014

There is something of an issue with access to top class athletes, but the other major factor is the number of full time professional athletes. In NZ the structure of the tournaments means you have double the number of professional rugby players, a fact which is compounded by the lack of...
