Continued decline in Sydney Junior Rugby

I think you will find it is actually 90 mins per day. That is why the State Champs have 22.5 min halves.

ARU Junior Gold Cup - National Junior Championships

Shane my thoughts are based on the following In the 15's the South Harbour team is made up of a lot of the Randwick team that was in the finals of the U14 State Champs and the Western Sydney team has a lot of the Norths team that won the State Champs.

ARU Junior Gold Cup - National Junior Championships

In the 15's I reckon the Southern conference semi will be Western Sydney vs Sydney South Harbour. ACT's big win was against South Australia so very hard to gain context. SSH play the ACT on Sunday so that will in my eyes determine the winner of their pool.

Continued decline in Sydney Junior Rugby

Where does this stuff come from? I have spoken in depth to 3 different people whom where at that meeting and that is not what transpired i am told. The topic was the U16's on a Saturday where the SJRU has two and a half teams nominated as wanting to play Saturday rugby (the Sunday comp has...

Continued decline in Sydney Junior Rugby

I think league may have already hit - Manly's U15 Rep team last was not as strong as in previous years. Am fairly sure only one lad went on from the State Champs to represent at regionals.

Continued decline in Sydney Junior Rugby

HJ - I don't know if there has been an impact directly related to the JGC, but i am told that all clubs are finding rego's are down on last year (particularly in the 14's and above) With regard to the Saturday vs Sunday debate that keeps boiling along, it came out at a District meeting the...

Continued decline in Sydney Junior Rugby

Like it or lump it - we will be paying a levy of some sort next year. And to be honest i dont think it will be a huge impost. But the ARU have delivered this very badly - the financial position has been known for ages, but they choose to "announce" the levy 2 days before Christmas with no...

Continued decline in Sydney Junior Rugby

S'UP, from what i hear you may get your chance. Word is that the current SJRU President has declared this his last year and no one has stepped forward to put their name in the hat as his successor. Put your name down and you may yet be the Grand Poobah!!! You could even join the committee...

Continued decline in Sydney Junior Rugby

Mosman juniors had over 700 regos last year and Newport had over 600 regos. But I think some Qld clubs may be bigger.

And MOTH I do like your U17's proposal - i have heard it mentioned a few times now and think that it must be done

Continued decline in Sydney Junior Rugby

A few years ago they (SJRU) tried to create graded A and B grade Comps in Sunday rugby and then tried to do the geographic thing after that. IIRC the issue was that once the A and B teams were taken out it left issues where there was only one or two teams left in some areas (eg MSZ and MWZ)...

ARU Junior Gold Cup - National Junior Championships

Sydney Northwest play Hunter at TG Milner tomorrow - think 15's are at 2.00pm and 17's at 3.30pm. Sydney South play Northern Inland at Foreshore at 10.00am and 11.30am

Continued decline in Sydney Junior Rugby

At the junior club level referees are provided by the three referee associations (north, south and west) through a central appointments officer. All referees (old and young) are paid per match. The referees are then asked how they would like these funds dispersed. Options are to take the cash...

    National Tournaments 2014

JGC finishes on 5th April - so there is plenty of time before the State Champs. I'd suspect there may still be some other lads whom will be involved in the State Champs that didn't join the JGC. One example i can think of are the GPS Rowers whom i am told couldn't risk an injury from a rugby...

    National Tournaments 2014

It must be a different version as there was definitely U18's on the form I saw.

Continued decline in Sydney Junior Rugby

Back when we had the 3 zones, there was still the problem of the 100-0 floggings. But this was made more apparent by the comps not being graded (MWZ and MSZ - can't speak for MNZ). A good deal of our issues with Sat rugby have come about because the fringe teams around the borders of the MNZ...

Continued decline in Sydney Junior Rugby

S'UP it is a bit harsh to call the JGC a disaster before a single match has been played. I may not agree with a few of the elements of it, but in fairness it is the first year. As for the piles of money - it certainly isn't coming from the ARU.

    National Tournaments 2014

NSWJRU and SJRU have been advertising for coaches for regional, Sydney (incl an U18 team) and NSW teams since before Christmas. So this would imply that the traditional pathway is still on the plate for 2014. But I have heard that QJRU are not selection a State team this year - so it will be...
