ASICS partners with Australian Rugby Union from 2014

I've read it, but I hadn't been counting. I've simply been replying to points made by others and raising mine.

What on earth were they thinking?

    I must confess I hadn't been counting.

No, the problem is with the jersey ;-). It's pretty simple really, I just prefer classic and simple designs. This thing is trying to be classic, but it doesn't seem to know the meaning of the word.

ASICS partners with Australian Rugby Union from 2014

Why the fuck would I have to be working for BLK to find this thing repulsive? I just reckon there's way too much shit on this and it fucks up the whole look of the jersey. I mean, if you're gonna do a collar that tries to hark back to the old white ones with green trimmings, then actually...

ASICS partners with Australian Rugby Union from 2014

To be honest the Southern Cross is one of my biggest gripes... its positioning is terrible in this one. It reminds me of some bogan tattoo the way its positioned down the side of the torso. I wasn't a huge fan of CCC's position either though. Kooga had the right idea in making it embossed and...

ASICS partners with Australian Rugby Union from 2014

I don't know about that... It's messier and less simple than the CCC '96 edition, the 99' to 03' edition, the '04 to '06 edition (which it sort of copies but adds way more shit to), and it's also less simple than the last 2 Kooga ones. To be fair, it's less messy and better than the '07 RWC...

A bit of hyperbole, but I reckon it's a bloody mess. I honestly can't stand the sight of it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sadly, having emailed them for a glimmer of hope that this jackson pollock edition may be soon gone, I was informed that we're going to be stuck with this mess for at least a couple years.

    Brumbies v Sharks, round 13 2014

I like and grew up playing both games, so I'm always likely to switch over if it turns into an old school 10 man rugby kick-athon. That said, I prefer Union over all because it is simply a more interesting and multi-faceted game. I just can't stand overly negative play though, and the...

    Brumbies v Sharks, round 13 2014

Indeed. Plenty of us did too it seems. The last 20 mins of the Storm-Sea Eagles was cracking stuff. In all seriousness, wet-weather is always going to stifle games, but to the tune of having 94 kicks in general play? That's just a reflection of a total lack of faith in basic handling skills...

    Brumbies v Sharks, round 13 2014

The Chiefs are a hard read right now... They've looked very ordinary at times this year, and haven't traveled well at all. The Crusaders on the other hand look to be coming into some devastating form, and I think their's is the true "Championship Rugby". What I saw on Saturday night wasn't...

    Brumbies v Sharks, round 13 2014

It didn't look like "Championship Rugby" when the Crusaders piled 40 points on them a week earlier... To be honest I think that from this point on the limitations of the gutless, safety first approach of the Sharks will tell a little more each week and I full expect them to be eviscerated in...

ASICS partners with Australian Rugby Union from 2014

I'm a little older but I loved the last BLK one, but that's because it was a modern take on the classic late 80s jersey. They talk about the ASICS one incorporating tradition, but it isn't really, as it's a messy mix of a few old jerseys with a little bit of trashy ODI jersey thrown in via the...

ASICS partners with Australian Rugby Union from 2014

ASICS have put way too much crap on this thing and it just looks ugly. Why couldn't they have just taken their classy Springbok jersey design and just reverse the collar and jersey colours? Would have looked great.

I never said they "needed it", just that it would be nice to have an alternate strip in an old-school green for fans. As I said, England don't clash with anyone either, but they have a new away kit each year and they sell bloody well. I just would like the ARU to do that, but with a...

    Exit from Super Rugby?

You really think so? I reckon the status quo would have been far better in all honesty... I kinda like the competition as it stands right now, and don't really see the value in trying to invent a random team in Singapore or Spain. I think Argentina need more attention, but I would have liked to...

    Exit from Super Rugby?

I believe the thinking was that by making them seemingly geographically disembodied as a brand, it would be easier to build a wider fan-base. The idea was clearly built on some pretty poorly thought out logic and with no reference to actually successful global sporting brands... I make no...

    Exit from Super Rugby?

Mate, it's really not the same thing... Expansion up until this point has been about slowly making the number of teams in each country/conference equal and therefore providing a bit of symmetry. This is different to adding the Southern Kings, which is a purely political move, and then...

    Exit from Super Rugby?

I think you're likely right. And from memory games against big kiwi teams get good crowds for the Tahs. I've always made a point of seeing us play teams like the Blues and the Crusaders and now the chiefs, because they represent a bit of litmus test.
