And to add to that TC's tackle on the line to save a try against one of the Wests' big boppers was another highlight in a great game for him

On a side note, is that everyone's favourite Englishman Charlie Hughes plying his trade in Easts' 4th grade or just a coincidence that he's not playing at Randwick now and another prop with the same name is the Beasts?

    Shute Shield 2014

Was that 13? He did quite a few off the ball hits on Saturday

Nugget plays a more direct game and get the forwards moving in the right direction. Seems to clean up a lot more around the ruck area in defence and cover defends well.

I often think Donlan is in cruise control during a game. He doesn't seem to have a high gear. In general, is it coached into halfbacks these days to pick up the ball at the ruck and move away from the area before passing? Not many seem to pass from the ground or clear quickly.

Agreed. The Wicks have just been shown what the benchmark is. There is something to aim for - as players and a club. The framework they've put in place since 2012 will reap benefits.

Is the great Toa Asa injured or unavailable this week? He'll be sorely missed around the paddock against the bore merchants tonight.

It was very noticeable on the weekend that the Wicks superior fitness was on show. Easts started just about every grade with intent and bar 1st grade were over run by a fitter team and more cohesive team. 4th grade looked like they were in for a long day before Easts kept falling over like flies...

Again quality sides picked. Some good players still out and some returning. Interesting to see what East side turns up given last week's results.....or were Eastwood way off the pace?? Everyone's favourite Englishman poor Charlie Hughes is in 3's this week. Hopefully he finds some form...

TC runs around like it's his last game on earth. But gee he's good to watch!! Great idea on leadership group. There is a core group of older and younger players now with a lot to offer in different aspects.

I like Figg in the side, but do see the validity in the opinions above. One comment I would add, is the need for the likes of Baldwin and Harrod (as examples) to be used tactically as substitutes. They are 1st grade standard and really could add a new dynamic later in the game.

Given the reggies dominance on Saturday a few of those guys like Harris would surely be getting a mention at the selection table. Backs and forwards were outstanding in that first 40.

    Galloping Greens

Something evident in the first 20+ mins on Saturday was the enthusiasm from Souths - they were yahooing and back slapping at every break in play. Wicks were very quiet in comparison. Wicks did well to hang in the forward battle considering the scrummaging lesson they were getting. Agree with...

Just checked out the sides on the website. The depth is good for the club. The quality of player in 3's and 4's are outstanding. Should be a cracking day and high standard with those squads. Looking forward to it

The ghosts of a few years ago when Penrith and Parra touched up Randwick at home should be motivation enough over the next few weeks. The club, playing wise, is in a much better place now but the lessons of those losses should still be enough for the players like Tim Wright to pass onto the new...
