    Waratahs 2011 post mortem

I'm not discounting them, in fact I think the 'Tahs were the unluckiest team in terms of injury toll. But as I said before, I think the combination of extremely forward-dominated game structure and Hickey's reluctance to substitute players like Palu, TPN, Robinson and Kepu led to their some of...

    Wallabies Trinations Squad

I personally think Giteau will be the starting #9, with Phipps on the bench

    Waratahs 2011 post mortem

From my count, the Waratahs squad had 13 Wallabies. Not just Mark Bartholemuez type Wallabies, but recently capped internationals. These players were also in key positions: #1 Robinson #2 TPN #3 Kepu #5 Mumm #7 Waugh #8 Palu #9 Burgess #10 Barnes #11 Mitchell #12 Horne #13 Cross #14 Turner...

    Ma'a Nonu to the Sharks?

To be honest, I don't think the Crusaders need any more outside backs. They've had a shocking injury run this year, and still managed to finish 3rd overall and win the NZ conference. Think about their backs- 9. Ellis 10. Carter 11. Guildford 12. Williams 13. Fruean 14. Maitland 15. Dagg RES...

    QLD GPS Rugby 2012

light I understand where you're coming from Light, I really do. I'm not one of the ones suggesting Grammar are going to win premiership, not even saying they'll secure a podium finish, but I do think 4th or 5th is well within reach. I agree, the lack of an established #10 is going to really...

    QLD GPS Rugby 2012

Light, I don't think Grammar will be doing 'heavy recruiting', per se. They never have, and there's no reason to suggest they'll do it next year. I concede that BGS has given some scholarships, however never more than 2 per year and these have never been full scholarships. They've already got...

    QLD GPS Rugby 2012

I personally think that Tom Branch is neck in neck with Trey Kemp. Branch is faster and stronger, a better tackler and is more aggressive, but Trey has a better skill set (catching, kicking, passing) and he is bigger. Wouldn't it be best to keep Cornelson at lock and have Lakehm Aiono play 8?

    QLD GPS Rugby 2012

Doubt it. Grammar already have Hugo Starr-Thomas playing #12 (however he played #15 against GT) for the 1st XV and the currently injured Joshua Birch (Australian Rugby League Representative) in Year 11, so there's the centres locked up. Winger Lewis Radford might move back to fullback next year...

    QLD GPS Rugby 2012

Lakehm Aiono has been at BGS since Grade 8, as have 1st XV players Lewis Radford (14), Hugo Starr-Thomas (12), Michael Gilbert (6) and Nick Anderson (1). The same goes for Andrew Saunders (Utility backrow), who has played a few games for the 1st XV this year with Levi Aumua out. New Hooker Cody...

QLD GPS Representative Team - 2011

Just heard from a mate, pretty controversial selections. Didn't get the whole team. GPS1: 9. Gale (NC) 10. Brittain (NC) 11. Hunt (NC) 12. Tuttle (NC) 13. Soape (ACGS) 14. Elliot (TSS) 15. Bowen (IGS) Grant Davies is on the GPS 2 bench.

    Losing Culture at the Force

Is it just me, or a some teams more susceptible to fan criticism than others? The Waratahs get consistently slammed for not topping the table/ winning games, yet they are likely finals contenders and they have been for years now. Conversely, teams like the Hurricanes and the Force's losses are...

    Rebels v Brumbies MOM

Brumbies 3. McCabe- played another blinder, surely cemented himself as a #12 now 2. Moore 1. Giteau Rebels 3. Saffy- tackling machine! Setup that try too, very underrated 2. Gerrard 1. Delve

I know Khaele Bowen is the favourite and has a brilliant running game, but is it too far-fetched to suggest that BGS's #15 Sam Green could be selected for GPS 1. He has the best kicking game of anybody in the competition, constantly kicking 60+ meters, good short kicking game, 50m drop kicks and...

    Wallaby Injuries

I know his form hasn't been great this season, but I think AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) has proven himself a consistent Wallaby performer and shouldn't be named on the bench simply due to his impact/ utility value. If he's the best #13 (which IMO he is), then he starts at #13. For me, the best example of an 'impact...

    Wallabies Trinations Squad

For me, the core of the side is pretty self explanatory, only a few spots undecided and for grabs. All comes down to these last few S15 matches. In my opinion, the team should be as follows: 1. Benn Robinson 2. Tatafu Polota-Nau 3. Sekope Kepu 4. Nathan Sharpe 5. James Horwill 6. Rocky Elsom...

    QLD GPS Rugby 2011

Paraka was the second fastest player in the TSS squad behind Lindsay Crook, so that's quite an achievement. From all reports he's picked up speed, and I've heard his passing is very high standard. Could be a brilliant move by TSS.

    Wallabies Trinations Squad

I'm not going to give details away, but he's a pretty reliable source. Up until recently was involved in the ARU coaching setup, and his contacts seem to think Giteau is the man for the backup #9 job. Makes sense- no need for Genia to come off unless he's injured, and it doesn't waste a spot on...

    World Cup Squads

Tell you what, I reckon NZ's 2nd XV could go close to winning the comp. Have you seen the depth they have? 1. Tony Woodcock- Ben Franks- Jamie Mackintosh- Wyatt Crockett 2. Kevin Mealamu- Andrew Hore- Corey Flynn 3. John Afoa- Owen Franks- Neemia Tialata 4. Anthony Boric- Tom Donnelly 5. Brad...
