He still sits on the sideline during the opens games and casts an eye on the junior grades looking for talent. His role has changed he is Assistant Principal Sport and Co-curricular. No coaching as i understand it, but plenty of the coaches would be tapping in to his knowledge.
Correct that's what i said from the start. I have a boy in a 1st team so am very familiar with the talent pool and the process both at club and schools. I'm more concerned with the power struggles between selectors, where one group deemed a kid not good enough (schools) yet the other (NSW...
My understanding from the parents of the boys at our school and the flow chart is that they were nominated by the school early in the year to be part of the academy trials. No one was in Gen blue or Waratah academy at that stage only the academy trial squad. It was not until the schools NSW...
At least they are addressing the issues. There was also another article during the week from Sir Graham Henry addressing the issue surrounding weight for age, which is probably the catalyst for kids to move Basketball. Im surprised that soccer hasnt had the influence its had here. Basketball...
Yes there was some talent in the cavs side. No he wasn't selected in that team either. I'm not sure what process Albert used for this one, there were boys selected from 2nds and 3rd grade GPS teams. The halfback actually played in Gordon colts 1st team recently.
By all reports, albeit unconfirmed. I know this lad and it is confirmed. Thankfully for everyone he is not lost because of schoolboy politics. The new System does work.
So i heard about a player who did not make the NSW sides but was then called up to the Gen blue squad having not already been a member. I guess this is how it should work, otherwise the path would have closed at school level representation. GP/CAS/ISA/CHS. Not sure what happens from here as it...
Let's remember that the school does quite well from an athletic point of view in other sports namely rowing, basketball and cricket, so the demographic argument doesn't seem like a strong one. It comes down to recruitment and at what cost to the other programs within the school. Rugby it seems...
I don't think AFL is a significant issue given the the last game played Shore: 0 – 6 – 6 lost to Waverley 1: 13 – 13 – 91. It is more about scholarships, bursaries or whatever you want to call it. Put 4-5 players in the 1ST xv TEAM that are next level and they would be more than competitive. A...
Absolutely, investing in coaching would be a great start. With technology booming in the sport there are so many ways to increase knowledge. Coaching usually starts with Fathers who are passionate, but it shouldn't end there RA should encourage or invest in coaching mentors to come to training...
I thought the reason they made it U18's is because of the touring sides they play in the UK, 2 of the sides they played last year were U19's with the issue being some of the states finish HS at 17.
