Agree. TSS in particular has probably had the easiest run but Churchie has had a couple of easier games too. Will be a big match against TGS this week. I think injuries and depth may play a big role this year with the comp so tight.
You re right that a few years back BBC failed to play in the A div in this year's age group. But they recruited well and have steadily improved over the last year or so. There are a few strong players returning along with some rep players so I think they will be a strong solid group. I really...
Villa played Churchie today. Churchie ran three different squads throughout the match. Think they ended up ahead overall but not sure how each game scored
Think the comp.is wide open this year with it possible to make a case for almost any school to be a contender...with the distinct exception of BGS. They haven't fielded an A team in this year's age group since 2018 so think there is very little chance of them being competitive at all.
Churchie will have had a Camp in the days beforehand so I wouldn't think they would make any decisions until then and will likely use it as a testing ground for a range of players. But overall I would say they would put a pretty competitive team out as they have quite a bit of depth regardless...
I think Finn is at GT... But also think he is originally from QLD... Am pretty sure he played Met East in U13. Has been in Vic for a few years but now back in QLD. Pretty sure he has been playing lightning Colts the last few weeks
Se.are.17 and some are 18. Lightning Colts is for both age groups and is a good transition into Colts. It also gives those schools without much off a comp.to play in a chance to play some regular games. It definitely has grown over the past few years and there is a good mix of players from rep...
I am in Brisbane and there has been some success in a lightnings colts program for U18s. There are similar issues up here with GPS and possibly also AIC schools.prohibiting boys from playing for club particularly 1sts and 2nds. Another complicating factor is that AIC rugby is term 2 and GPS is...
I watched quite a few of the games and thought the standard was excellent. Lots of draws over the three days goes to show how tight the competition was. Great to see some rep rugby opportunities opening up again for the boys. U16s is a very strong and highly competitive age group and some pretty...
Unfortunately no.. there might be 1 or 2 but the rest are year 12s. The BGS A team has been playing B teams since they were U 13. (As did BBC that year) They have played a couple of A teams this year but on the whole they have just played Bs. It could be ugly for them next year... Unless they...
BGS have been a bit of a pleasant surprise this year .. but I don't think they are going to be able to capitalise on it and build next year. Their U16 A team pretty much only play B teams.and have done since U13.
To my knowledge IGS has a huge number of kids on scholarship. (Not just in rugby) The current UI6 team was predominantly scholarships...granted many of them starting in year 7 and 8... They were a very hard tough team. But as years go by some of them leave and some don't work out. They are...
And a school's team can change dramatically from year to year in the 1sts. A school could be relegated one year but have a very different team the next
