Ah that's crap luck for Callum; feel for him. Yes sorry was Blythe, hope he is ok.

Bloody Jayden !!! (Know it's not his fault) Spends more time off the field then on it..... I would probably go for Horan or Hamish at 15 for the moment.

Clifton Setu will probably be back in the mix with Alex at 12 if Hunt is out.

Even though not in the mix, I think Chris Morgan (brothers) deserves a crack; I know the selector prefer Setu, but I don't. Probably a good idea to give Jayden the couple of weeks off to meet the blue peril.

Think tony will play, anyway.

They have good depth plus I think Reece Hewat is due back after the bye round, not sure if he will play at 6 or 8? Blythe played well and if he is out for a week Ganita is a good replacement. Pat Tafa slotted in well at 6 but Ngamanu will be a loss if he is out. Not sure of the #12 Hunt.

Word is that Reece hewat is the understudy to one g smith at the Reds. They r sizing him up at 7, so will be a handy sub for Callum in a couple of weeks.

Who Sage?

Chris was the fullback for brothers Prem colts last year. One of brothers better backs, consistent, has a great boot and loves running the ball. Played for North Brisbane in their surprising win over the more fancied South Brisbane ( I didn't think they would win). That's the Qld u20's trial match without a handful of current u20 Australian player who r Qld based.

One think for sure the rebels are a brutal team; big and tall what they lack in some skills they sure make up for in hit and heart.

Expect some bruising when u play them. Very reminiscent of the 2015 schoolboys Vic team in the Aussie championships (except less one dynamic player who will be playing 7's soon).

We will see if he outperforms Macaulay (? Nsw) first. Based on last years performances I do prefer hocking at this stage.

So did the selectors last year.

As I have mentioned before in this thread: Hocking was only 17 when he was selected for the Aus U20s in 2016 - being preferred to McCauley who was a year and change older.

They are similar players and both will be senior loosehead locks, and both have to be beefed up in the next couple of years.

Bit surprised with loose trio, I still think it's strong but is it stronger than last week?, I hope the coaching staff have encouraged the forwards to be patient close to try line or get it wide. Too many times they lost control, one too many hit up. Reds 20s better turn up Saturday cause the Force will be looking for the win they narrowly missed last week. Good to see coaches have stuck with same back line, hopefully get some nice clean ball. They can only get better. Good to see ngamanu in as I thought he looked seriously injured last week. He needs to inject some sting this weekend. Hunt & Riley combinations should improve with more ball in hand.

Yeah must admit, I was much more impressed with the starting line-up and so was the scoreboard (27-13?). Things looked like much more of a struggle once the replacements came out (from about the 53rd min) and the game went into limbo for both teams. This leads one to believe that there may be a significant gap of ability and belief from the starting team. The weather may of been a factor to the more lethargic outcome for both teams.

Think maybe the coaches are looking for more combinations? My gut feeling is "don't play players out of position". I know it worked last week with Callum Ball, but....here we go again with AS-Y is in at 6? he's not a 6 (just watch last years u20 World Cup, and this is not AS-Y fault, it's the coaches or the selectors!) imho, he's an 8. That said he is too good to leave off the field. And this is exactly the selectors/coaches dilemma. Positions are so specialised in rugby these days that one missed opportunity, due to lack of experience in a position, can cost tight games. And that can come from playing out of position. So let's try and eliminate that possibility by: NOT PLAYING PLAYERS OUT OF POSITION!!

I think patience is also an element. I saw on a number of occasions the 2 go for the line when setting it up and NOT loosing the ball was the right option. The 9 needs to be clear in asking for the ball as there were gaps out wide (particularly when QLD was attacking and inside the 22); bit of white line fever (not to be confused with Saturday Night Fever ;) ). Things have to be learned from the game, but then have to be executed on the field!

Anyone got the oil on Seru Ganita and Pat tafa? Don't think I have ever seen them or even heard of them.
I think Tafa was a reserve late week, but don't recall specifically watching him.

Pat played at 8 for the possibles (second side) in the trials and really impressed me he also came on for Calum in Saturday's game. I think ultimately Angus is a flanker long term. Reece Hewat will be back for the Brumbies game and may slot into the #8 jersey.

Yeah I agree with that long-term (A S-Y), but now I think he's an 8.

Where's Pat from though HTC? BSHS player? 5 kick exponent? His playing background etc??

The sage, yes mate they certainly lose composure and concentration after 3-4 phases so now that's when they need to let it go and YES, the 9 has gotta call it! Pretty simple really! It's funny cause I see it looking really promising at first and then it's gone, then they keep doing it. I understand bout players outta position just to get him on the field. Not my cuppa tea.

Valenti, Lonergan and Jooste all contracted Brumbies. Others like Swain, Kotz and Hansen have been seen at higher levels also. Good looking squad.
