I'm going to do a big of Analysis here from the Padua vs Lauries game...

To sum it up, Lauries play a winning style of footy. Well-drilled, perfect execution and an overall great gameplan. Padua seemed lost when Lauries started going for moving mauls and low pick and drives around the Try Line. One highlight on the Defense from this game was the No.4 from Padua. Not sure of name... he was getting low on his tackles and seemed to be a 'One Man Defense' around the line... Wasn't the biggest bloke on the field, but makes up his smaller size with effort and intensity (maybe the rest of the team need to look at his work ethic). Lazy efforts from some boys in the Padua team, not getting to rucks or not getting into position. Backs look lost...

Padua's gameplan wasn't executed at all... unless their gameplan was dropping a lot of ball. Seems Padua are writing off this year with having a younger winger, small fullback and overall, underdeveloped team..

Padua need to bring out whatever they had during HT of the St Peters game if they want to come out and play this season.
James Mason (The No.4 I stated earlier in the season) made the Team of the Season. Really shows his intensity as a player with him being listed as a Year 11 student.

Iona and Padua stunk. Let’s see what their impressive 10As offer next year. Ashgrove just lazy and resting on their laurels. Can’t blame injuries for their terrible season. So good to have Lauries back winning 1st XV premierships. Let’s see what the others can produce next year.
True. MCA needs to pick up its game. SLC have set the bar after a decade in the doldrums and other schools need to follow or become also rans. It's really not that hard. Start early and identify talent, get an S&C program for the opens and even 10's and make it compulsory, and actually give a shit. It's far from too late for MCA, as they were a few brain explosions from a premiership last year (2021) , but let's face it, they were under prepared in round 1 and you can't hit your straps in round 3 in a 7 game competition and expect to win. SLC have been ready to go from round 1 the last 2 years and it showed. Well done to them.

On next year, and current year 10's, I'll make an early prediction that Taavi Upchurch, prop from Padua, will be a star. MCA will rue the day they let him go. And under very poor circumstances, amongst others. Will be a vey interesting comp next year with SLC losing many of its big names, but they will still be well prepared. Will the others be?

Taavi’s a great kid from a great family. He’ll be a star for sure. Was very ordinary how they were treated at Ashgrove.

Poor treatment of staff and students at mca is a recurring theme.

S and c should be begun at year 7 - not bodybuilding- but making kids move better, setting physical standards and pushing the athletic needle of all at the school.
