Really does show how little International Games the Pumas have played over the years when long-term stalwarts like Roncero (49) Albacete (43) and Fernandez-Lobbe (43) haven't even reached 50 caps yet.

This line-up is noteable for a number of reasons, including:

1. The return of Hernandez at test level for the first time in over 3 years
2. The selection of a whole front row on the bench
3. Phelan favouring the locally-based Landajo over the French-based Figuerola as back-up scrum half.
4. Not being able to find a spot for a talent such as Imhoff is a pleasing sign

Resurrecting a surprisingly old thread for this - Mario Ledesema has stood down as the coach of the Pumas:

Mario Ledesma has resigned as coach of the Argentine rugby team, saying a run of poor results meant it was time for change.

“Taking this decision is difficult, who wants step way from all this? Nobody,” Ledesma told reporters. “But if you put the team first and you are sufficiently humble then that’s what you have to do.”

Feel a bit bad for him, after historic success in 2020 he has been a bit of a victim of the changing circumstances around covid and super rugby and whoever comes in will be just as up against it.

No new coach named yet.

Does this mean ol’ Cheika is going to step up?

Not outside the realm of possibility, particularly with his position at Green Rockets in a bit of doubt after the whole Ferguson drama. The names I have seen rumoured are Felipe Contempomi and Gonzalo Quesada.
