Australia Wallaby A squad to play a Japan XV Saturday 18th Oct

Brumby Runner

George Gregan (70)
Jeez Reimer is an impressive footballer. Absolutely no fucking around or showboating. He's yet another 7 cursed to be born in Australia and have a number of guys ahead of him for the spot.

The David Croft of this decade.
Just not the same amount of claret.

Looking at the Brumbies backrow, I am more likely to feel disappointed at the performance of Rory Scott than of Luke Reimer. Scott has great work ethic but many times is less effective that it might be at the Super Rugby level, especially in relation to ball carrying and gaining metres in contact.

I thought the players with best contributions in Aus A were Faessler (good to see him back - and great speech as captain afterwards), Kailea, Swain (best game I've seen from him), and Grealy (MOTM). Dobbins also had a good session off the bench and looks to have the makings of a top notch hooker.

Reimer is the best pure on ball 7 in the country.

It’s the rest of the game he is shaded by McReight who is very good on ball but excels around the field. Tizzano has been in his purple patch the last 18 months but Reimer can challenge him for the no.2 spot but a lot depends on who gets the time at the Brums.

Scott hasn’t lived up to what he seemed to be heading towards a couple seasons ago. Not really sure what the reason is but not everyone will.

Dobbins is a handy footballer. He seems to gas out in games which has been an issue but he throws his frame into work.

I said it a while back but if we’re going with alignment either Scott or Reimer needed to move to the tahs. They do this job share arrangement when both are good enough to be the main guy. As such Reimer is even pigeonholed as “finisher”. It’s been good for the brumbs in that they can rotate between the 2 but the wallabies could do with more 7s getting consistent 70+ minutes super game time.
