NRL have confirmed they’ll host the State of Origin in Auckland in 2027, NZ Govt have coughed up a hefty fee to host Origin at Eden Park.

Pretty amazing that SOO will probably be able to pack out the stadium in a small city with very few Aussies for a game between two Australian states with no Kiwis playing. NRL is a pretty unique competition.

And they say the NZ government won't pay for sports events, so they can't have an ANZAC Bled...

NZ will have a 2nd NRL side announced to take the comp to 20 by 2030.

That new shiny stadium in Christchurch would do perfectly I reckon. Create a derby, even out the numbers.

They want to host Women’s State of Origin in Christchurch next year also, apparently NZ Govt open to pay for that as well
