Pretty amazing that SOO will probably be able to pack out the stadium in a small city with very few Aussies for a game between two Australian states with no Kiwis playing. NRL is a pretty unique competition.

NZ will have a 2nd NRL side announced to take the comp to 20 by 2030.
That new shiny stadium in Christchurch would do perfectly I reckon. Create a derby, even out the numbers.

Be interested to see what amount NZ govt has paid (if any), usually the council pays the majority I be surprised, as there was one report there was $5 mill being offered. But even that haven't heard anything over here that it's actually a fact. But could be something in it, guess it all about bringing in Aussie $s.

It would bring in money. Aussies flying in from the East coast for a couple of nights.
I suspect this game would be pushed to a Sunday instead of Wednesday night which would encourage more people to go on a Friday and spend the weekend in NZ.
5m feels a pretty low number for Origin which is the biggest spectacle in Aus sport now and they get to dip in 3 times.
