I know Shaun Stevenson who played wing for NZ against Fiji was injured. He is a pretty good player. Don't really follow school boy rugby so much so am not sure about others. Thomas and peter Umaga-Jensen who played for the wellington scots college side that won the national title made themselves unavailable for unknown reasons for the torny. They are both brilliant players. Lots of other good players to cover though.

Edit: The Umaga Jensen twins made themselves unavailable because of the importance of their school NCEA exams. Good on them.

Fair point sir!

Do you know if NZ were missing any of their stars, injured or unavailable?
The Reds did a number on them by pinching Taniela Topu.
Not they way i heard it.
NZ would not pick him as he did not have a NZ passport and that is why he was looking at OZ

What about the NZ side? If you don't know the names just say the numbers.

Well the obvious choice is the 15 but i don't like obvious. And I think Lowe maybe should have scored in the second half but didn't (so I lost a bit of man love for him) - or had he departed?
Fittick shoulder charged that stopped him was v. dodgy.
The 7 impressed me in the 2nd half.

NZL halfback Nock was probably one of their best.
Starting Front row for NZL dominated their opponents.

NZL #10 played well, but O'Shea AUS #10 was one of the better AUS performers.

NZL seemed to go off the boil a bit when they brought their bench piggies on.

The 15, as I said will more than likely be seen quite regularly as he gets older, barring any mishap. He seemed to have so much time with the ball in hand.
In the mens division, the 6 for nz schools did what aus schools needed from our 4 through 8. commited to the ugly stuff of actually tackling, rucking and mauling. Don't know the kids name but I liked what I saw. The 20 for Aus when he came on and did the basics better than very well too

I agree in the thoughts of the nz bench.
In the modern game , it isn't really enough to just "replace", it is more impact than anything else. But, in saying that, nz schools still won the game.

The 4 through to the 8 NS
4. 5. 6. 7. 8.
@Hugh Jarse put it quite succinctly regarding too many meercats.
You cannot blame the Front 3 for tight heads against them when the back 5 weren't contributing in the push. The binding was nonexistant

And they won comfortably on the back of the dominance of their single digit players.

If their princesses hadn't made so many errors (many unforced) then it could have been Eden Park revisited. (If my Aunty had... ... ... etc)

Nearly all of their tries were superbly crafted team tries. Ours came from individual acts of brilliance taking advantage of NZL defensive lapses.

It was good to see that our lads didn't drop their bundle when they were behind and things weren't going their way. They fought bravely until Sir called No Game.

Don't let them off @Brian Westlake. Our fatties bums weren't low enough in the scrums and, particularly on the LH side, there seemed to be some wonky shoulder alignments as they packed.

Ed Craig would have been better employed in the loose forwards.

Lastly, if the weight isn't coming through, the fatties up front need to take control of the situation and demand meat and potatoes from their second row.

Have they got a specialist scrum advisor/coach?

We seem to only want gravy, and we wonder why we get owned when it comes to Jnr RWC and Wob scrums?

Well the last time I looked good technique in the
front row makes the back five job easier but I
agree they have to pull there weight to make
the front rows job easier

For those who missed the Jordan Jackson Hope dump tackle in the Australian vs Barbarians game which inevitably led to a red card, here it is:

The team didn't tour. Why is having a NZ Passport important?

Did Narrabri's own Steve Devine have a NZ passport when they stole him from us?

Was it perhaps that The Lords of Darkness were seeking him to commit to NZ rugby before they "invested development resources" in him, and the lack of a NZ passport was just a convenient excuse for both parties as he continued to trade Aus and NZ super franchises.

How long do Tongan citizens need to reside in NZ before they are eligible to apply for NZ Citizenship?

It looks like the Aus players are good exponents of the coach's game plan and the plan worked for 30% of the game
unfortunately the oppositions game plan which included attention to set pieces and having a tight five as opposed to a tight Three worked for 70%. It was exciting to see the Aus team within reach with 10 to go, as at 1/2 time it looked as though a few NZ handling errors had kept them with only 17 to chase, a number that could have been worse
