Does anyone have a report / score line from N1 v Q2?

Edit: (from rugby.com.au)

“NSW I sealed an undefeated pool stage with a big 47-5 win over QLD II.

The top NSW side never looked like losing, controlling proceedings throughout the whole 60 minutes.

RESULT

NSW I 47

QLD II 5”

A shame we won’t get to see N1 v Q1, but the prospect of another all NSW final is salivating for anyone who saw the 2016 upset. I’d be surprised if history repeats, but then I didn’t give N2 much hope in 2016 either. Congrats to the N2 lads who clearly have displayed plenty of character in getting up today. Win, lose or draw on Sat, there should be a number of them selected into the 40.

The Jeans yellow card was harsh but the replacement of their 15 after that happened was a mistake. It left two wingers on the field (weaker defenders) and NSW II exploited it.

A lot of yellow cards are harsh these days imo but its the same for both teams competing. Its easy for a player to make a mistake under fatigue or pressure and nek minit youre gonski. A penalty would suffice at times but it is what it is.
Ditto for penalties for high tackles. The refs are under instructions and it doesnt matter whether a player ducks into it.

This year's NSWI team is better than that of 2016 imo, particularly their forward pack.
Anything can happen in a Final but they should be too good. In fact I think they'll win comfortably.
NSWIs Coach Lachlan White coached NSW2 in 2016.

So far and on todays efforts Jeans and Tecjek are the top two 9s imo.
Depending on what happens on Saturday Tecjek could finish ahead of the two NSWI 9s.

He's a proven performer.
Will he be one of players called up later?

Agreed he put in a good performance with the time he had in the field 30 mins first game and 5 mins second game before injury however, there’s been a few #7’ standouts this Championships such as VIC Stone a big lad very strong on ball, WA Hinkley impressive work rate and Q1 a hard runner making numerous turnovers it’s going to be interesting at selection time

Agree, Tecjek started off a bit slow in the 1st game but has been fantastic since. Strang doesnt seem to be playing for the team, too much individualism. Jeans is very good.

In open play the big back row is good, the set piece may well be a different thing. Will be very interested in how the scrums and lineouts work on the weekend, sneaking suspicion there may be a chink in the armour.

A bit rough to put this on two wingers and the Coach while implying your 15 would have been a factor . He wouldn’t have.

The boys , together , have to own what happended re : frontal and cover line pressure where they collectively needed to step up

Credit to NSW 2 who wanted it more

Imo I won’t be surprised to see NSWI #12 Walton making the Aus team, especially upon hearing Waratahs high performance manager Tim giving Walton big Rapp’s! (excuse the pun)during commentary on the NSWI vs QII game

Gee what a shock - a NSW HPM giving a NSW kid a rap

I’m stunned

QLD 1 12/10 - Reesjan Pasiota seems as though he’s injured which explains why we didn’t see much of him this week - but like Donny Freeman - he’s a class act and probably will ultimately be in the mix when the Tests are on

All these kids playing at this level are class acts GO

1. Angus Bell (NSW1)/Zane Horgan (ACT)
2. Jack Winchester (NSW 2)
3. Apinesa Driti (ACT)/Zane Nonngor (QLD1)
4. Tom Hooper (NSW 2)
5. Jeremy Williams (NSW 1)
6. Luca Moretti (NSW 1)
7. Donny Freeman (NSW 1)
8. Bailey Tau Tau (QLD 1)
9. Reece Anapu (WA)
10. Carter Gordon (QLD 1)
11. Glen Vaihu (QLD 1)
12. Joey Walton (NSW 1)
13. Lachlan Ilias (NSW 1)
14. Jangala Bennet (QLD 1)
15. Brendan Jimenez (ACT)

This is starting to look like a strong Aus team, probably a bit too NSW/QLD1 centric though as well.

Think about who could actually compete against NZ.

1. Angus Bell (NSW1)/Zane Horgan (ACT)
2. Jack Winchester (NSW 2)
3. Apinesa Driti (ACT)
4. Will Chaffey (QLD 1)
5. Jeremy Williams (NSW 1)/Fred Fewtrell (QLD 1)
6. Luca Moretti (NSW 1)
7. Donny Freeman (NSW 1)
8. Bailey Tau Tau (QLD 1)
9. Reece Anapu (WA)
10. Carter Gordon (QLD 1)
11. Glen Vauhu (QLD 1)
12. Joey Walton (NSW 1)/Dennis Waight (QLD 1)
13. Lachlan Ilias (NSW 1)
14. Jangala Bennet (QLD 1)
15. Brendan Jimenez (ACT)

Updated the team with some standouts from this week.

Think this is getting closer to the final 15.

Spine of team looks alright but I’d go with

2. Kopua - QLD 1
4. Harris - NSW 1
6. Van Der Schyff - QLD 1
8. Moretti NSW 1
9. Jeans - QLD 1
12. Pasiota - QLD 1
11. Tricks - NSW 1
14. Fonua - Victoria

7 x NSW 1 , 2 x ACT , 1 x Victorian , 5 x QLD 1

QLDIs defence yesterday was enormous the whole game, especially their goal line defence holding out a fast finishing NSW team.
And being a man down. And they came within a whisker of saving the game.

NSW's come-from-behind win was a great team effort, but their last try involved an element of luck.
After Creagh brilliantly sliced through the defensive line on the last play of the game, his last pass went to ground and was scooped up by Bell to score. It wasn't certain whether it was a knock on or not, but after consultation with the touchy it was awarded.

That was reminiscent of 2016 when NSW2 just scrapped into the Final but I doubt if history will repeat itself, but I have been wrong before.

In any case the QLDI players didnt do their chances of being selected in the 46 any harm and all players have one more opportunity to impress the selectors. NSW players will be pumped to play in the Main Final.

The contest between the 9s in tomorrow's Main Final will be very interesting. I'm not trying to put the mock on anyone but both NSWI 9s missed out in 2016.

As I saw it, Kopua looked better than Winchester at 2 yesterday.

I also thought Qld 1's Nongorr excelled v NSW 2, he must be in the frame for the reserve tighthead but I understand he'll be back next year anyway.

Isn't Qld I's loosehead, Vella, back next year as well?

I think the 3rd place play off could be more interesting than the final.
Qld 1 have a better set of individuals on paper but ACT play best as a team.
ACT played well against NSW1 quickly aligning in defence and making it hard to break through.
It will be a real contest tomorrow.
Qld 1 underestimate them at their peril.
In the main game NSW1 will be too good. I expect a 20 to 30 point margin.
Difficult to see an upset.
In selections for the squad of 40 I would be amazed if the entire starting pack of NSW1 didn't get named.
Numbers 1 through 8 have all performed well in the 3 games to date.
